The people coming into our country, many are nice people, but it must be done through a process. Many of the people coming into our country are bringing crime, drugs, rape, etc. We will not simply assume that people are bad, but we must go through a process to prove that they are. I do not oppose immigration, but it must be done moderately in the sense of not just letting people walk in when they want and what with they want.

There's no other way to resolve illegal immigration crisis. We need to stop them at the boarder, and detain and deport those who enter the country illegally.

 @B4SZQNT  from Colorado  agreed…5mos5MO

It costs about over $10,000 on average to deport a single person. About 45% of all illegal immigrants entered legally. Illegal immigrants are about 37% less likely to commit violent crime than US-born citizens.

 @B6G9NWQ from California  agreed…1mo1MO

They also are not criminals are are just trying to lead a normal life to help provide for their families. According to a report published by the Center for Migration Studies, 69% of all immigrants in the U.S. workforce and 74% of undocumented workers are employed in jobs considered "essential critical infrastructure", compared to 65% of the native-born workforce. This suggests immigrants are more likely to work in jobs that are crucial to the country's function, many of which may be deemed undesirable by others.

 @B4HSPC2 from California  agreed…5mos5MO

A lot of people in the US immigrate illegally. Honestly, it doesn't affect anybody negatively for the most part. People need to leave immigrants alone.

In a way I agree with your statement, as someone who has immigrant relatives I am aware of the few bad ones who come to this country and do nothing but stain the name of immigrants in a bad light. However, I believe that it is not because they are immigrants that they act the way they do, but rather are just that way whether they're illegal or not and because of racism people tend to point the blame that they are illegal is the cause of crimes. I definitely agree with the fact that many immigrants come here for a better life and as someone who has seen this dream come true and is now being ripped away is something so sad that no human should have to deal with.

 @B6QMDRL from Ohio  disagreed…2wks2W

"not every illegal immigrant commits crimes" is self contradictory. You broke the nations law (commiting a crime) by improperly enting the country. Correct me if i am wrong.

 @9G9TKYF from Missouri  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Not all immigrants are involved with crime and are only looking for new opportunities to support their families and themselves. Instead, they should provide fair trial and investigation to then consider whether or not they should be deported, and if not, they should get a chance to live in America because they haven't done anything wrong but work hard and hope for a better future.

 @NationalGuy47  from Utah  disagreed…8mos8MO

all illegal are most certainly involved with crime because coming here illegally is a crime, and that is not supporting their families by doing illegal stuff.

If you live in the US, someone in your bloodline was an immigrant. Who cares how they got there, a person is a person, and should be allowed to live.

  @HelcovichEmireRepublican from Maryland  commented…4mos4MO

Back then, immigration was more controlled. Now, it has gotten out of hand. Green card holders are legally here though not legal citizens yet. It's the ones who don't even apply for a residency we need to deport. Also the ones who don't provide us with any labor or economic contribution need to go.

 @9FQ6Y66 from South Dakota  disagreed…2yrs2Y

1. It is a practical impossibility to deport millions of people.
2. If it were possible, it would be ruinously expensive.
3. If possible and affordable, it would be inhumane to break up families, to disrupt peaceable people who contribute to our society, to return people to countries where they have no/weak ties and may be unable to speak the language or find a job, to deport people who themselves did not break the law because they were brought here as children, to dump people into dangerous circumstances due to crime or living conditions.

 @B6SJBV8 from Texas  agreed…1wk1W

Most of the immigrants that come to this country arrive just to give their family a better life, they pay taxes and contribute to the economy by attending their job, yet several are deported just because they were not born in this land and not due to any crime commited.

 @B6NCX22Independent  from Missouri  agreed…3wks3W

The majority of immigrants are here to work only to have a better life or to provide a better life to their kids, it was only when Biden had an open border policy that we saw illegal immigrants (especially Venezuelans, unfortunately, since I myself am one) commit crimes and it wasn't all of them, it was just a few one of them.  @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...12yrs12Y

No, too many non-violent immigrants are being deported

 @9FQ6Y66 from South Dakota  agreed…2yrs2Y

It is largely our own actions which have created the "border crisis." Above, I noted the ways in which we created conditions in "source" countries which have led to the migrations we're seeing. Also, we haven't properly funded immigration courts so that they can act on cases expeditiously. When someone lives in this country for years waiting for a court date, it should not be surprising that removing them at this point would be hugely disruptive to the deported person, his/her family, and often his/her US community. None of that is the fault of the immigrants.

Why would America want to ban potential citizens from our beloved country? if our country was originally brought up my immigrants why is the country all of a sudden against it?

  @HelcovichEmireRepublican from Maryland  disagreed…4mos4MO

We aren't against immigration, we're against ILLEGAL immigration. Get your facts straight! Immigration can be done legally, but they're doing it ILLEGALLY.

 @B6W3N5DIndependent from Arizona  agreed…6 days6D

Many cases have been reported of ICE soldiers having deported people who have never had a criminal record only for being illegal. Even when they are legal, they get caught up in this mess (https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/migrants-in-u-s-legally-and-with-no-criminal-history-caught-up-in-trump-crackdown).

 @B6QMD4Cfrom Maine  agreed…2wks2W

Giving the government too much power has shown that legal immigrants and non-violent illegal immigrants have also been deported with the 2nd Trump administration being an example. Additionally, there is overwhelming evidence that illegal immigrants commit lesser crimes than native born Americans.

 @9TNCM45 from California  answered…12mos12MO

Yes

Yes, the punishment for illegal immigration should be execution.

A one week amnesty chance where they will simply be deported to their country of origin first. Should they not take this benevolent opportunity, a few executions to show we're serious should be enough to convince most to leave of their own accord. Exceptions for victims of human trafficking, where deportation is acceptable.

  @Patriot-#1776Constitution from Washington  commented…12mos12MO

Execute human traffickers, gang leaders, and drug cartel members as examples – draw and quarter them and put their heads on spears in public places. If we want to stop crime, we have to be willing to do what it takes to stop crime. We must strike terror into criminals' hearts and show them we mean business

  @HelcovichEmireRepublican from Maryland  commented…4mos4MO

Only if you can prove they've actually killed someone. If not, then death is never justified.

  @HelcovichEmireRepublican from Maryland  commented…4mos4MO

We should build a giant wall on the southern border and put sniper towers on it! Like a prison, think of Mexico as a big prison, we gotta keep them border hoppers from hopping our border.

 @8MCNGGC from Virginia  answered…5yrs5Y

I think that it is only fair for illegal immigrants involved in minor crimes to be referred to authorities.

 @9GZDTYYIndependent from Maryland  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, local law enforcement should be allowed to transfer immigrants to federal immigration authorities no matter what crime if they were found to be illegal

 @Brandonnoe84Libertarian  from Colorado  answered…8mos8MO

Yes, illegal immigrants should be handed over to federal authorities and deported but there should be a simple path to citizenship for illegal immigrants with no criminal record.

 @9H4V8MF from Arizona  answered…2yrs2Y

No, only if convicted of a violent crime. Law enforcement should have the ability to report to the federal government but not detain them

 @9DYQYY7Libertarian  from Arizona  answered…2yrs2Y

If someone commits a crime which falls under State jurisdiction due to it's nature, then it should be handled by the State. If it is a federal crime, then it should be prosecuted by the federal government. But a persons immigration status, while it can be a federal offense, should have no impact on the fair trial or treatment of the accused simply.

 @AnteaterLaylaRepublicanfrom Texas  asked…2yrs2Y

Would you then suggest a different approach for local law enforcement when they encounter individuals with uncertain immigration status? Or do you believe that the existing systems in place adequately address this issue?

 @8NKN247from Maine  answered…5yrs5Y

The illegality of their immigration is another issue than what they are there for, consider where they are in the citizenship process

 @8LQTFM7 from Massachusetts  answered…5yrs5Y

I think "deported" is a strong word and they should be put in jail like everyone else.

 @8LR3WX9Constitution from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

Crime-committing illegal immigrants should be detained and deported, however, make it official with the entire deported's family on which country they need to choose to stay in for the rest of their citizenship

 @9FK25GX from Connecticut  answered…2yrs2Y

No and abolish the police and ICE

  @9CJ6CB6 from Virginia  commented…2yrs2Y

Okay, ICE I can understand, but destroying the police without drastic social changes we’d be unprepared. Work to make the police force less on the violent side, replace some of them with social workers and reduce qualified immunity. Lord needs to be done, but cold abolition is a really bad idea right now.

 @8W5HJMCWorkers from Florida  answered…4yrs4Y

it depends on the crime if it causes mental problems to the victim in the future then yes if not then they should have mandatory community service but in the case of a violent crime then they should be convicted

Illegal immigrants should work towards gaining their citizenship. This is a hard process, but in order to live in this country one should have legal citizenship. However, one cannot come into this country illegally and expect to get away with minor crimes. They should be punished justly according to the constitution, this may include deportation. However, it is a definite deportation for larger crimes, or a higher punishment for crimes such as rape or murder.

 @8WWR9F2 from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

 @B6X7HBV from Nevada  answered…3 days3D

If they do not have a criminal record or have not committed heinous crimes, they should not be transferred to federal immigration and should be treated just like any other criminal.

 @B6X7FRZ from Virginia  answered…3 days3D

Yes but it should be taken out of pocket they should be punished for the MINOR crime not like a huge crime. Fair punishment for the crime.

 @B6X5LSY from Iowa  answered…3 days3D

It depends on what the crime is, drug related crimes and violent criminals should be transferred to authorities, and if they plead guilty or turn themselves in should alsobe considered

 @B6X3LFM from Illinois  answered…3 days3D

Depends on their immigration status, if they have been here for awhile and not even bothered to set something up through immigration (i.e. appointment, temp visa, etc) then they should be deported.

 @B6X3FJC  from California  answered…3 days3D

depends on their background. If their background is violent, then they should be allowed to detain illegal immigrants

 @B6WWPC7 from Oregon  answered…3 days3D

no, I think the government should make it more accessible to get the right paper work so they aren't illegal

 @B6WWJJT from New York  answered…3 days3D

Depending on the crime committed should determine deportation. Immigrants of all kinds leave the place they are in for a better life, that should matter most.

 @B6WV8KZSocialist from New York  answered…3 days3D

the deportation is too far a penalty, instead there should be the regular American court including the crime of illegal immigration, but there should be assistance to help them become legal immigrants rather than deport them

 @B6WSRZN from Illinois  answered…3 days3D

Illegal immigrants are considered illegal for a reason. It would make sense for them to be deported.

 @B6WMFVX from Texas  answered…4 days4D

Deport those with a criminal record, give the hard working immigrants a chance to apply for citizenship. Do not take parents from their young children.

 @B6WM8QW from Pennsylvania  answered…4 days4D

Many illegal immigrants are deported, but the current system doesnt care about their record and will lump non violent illegals with repeat offenders of violent crimes. Non violent illegals should have the chance to gain citizenship before being deported

 @B6WHVXZ from California  answered…4 days4D

Depends. If the migrate really is dangerous and has or admitted to dangerous crimes then yeah, BUT credibility and substantial proof will HAVE to be provided

 @B6W7W9W from Virginia  answered…5 days5D

If the crime allows for them to be detained and law enforcement finds they are an illegal immigrant they should be deported, but they shouldn't be detained without cause.

 @B6VZ28P from California  answered…6 days6D

The immigration system isn’t the most ideal but in a perfect world yes I would want them to be safely and fairly detained and convicted.

 @B6VYT5X from Illinois  answered…6 days6D

Immigrants illegal or not should not be deported and the system to obtain citizenship should be easier for the normal person.

 @B6VVZC9Independent from Pennsylvania  answered…6 days6D

I think that Immigrants should have an easier process but if anyone is committing crimes they should be punished.

 @B6VSPS8 from Minnesota  answered…6 days6D

No, not at all. If we are deporting immigrants because they are "committing a crime" by wanting to live a safe life, then they should also deport anyone who litters. because that's how violent the "crime" people are committing. They also are deporting perfectly legal Mexican-Americans just because of their skin color.

 @B6VQY69 from Texas  answered…6 days6D

Yes only if they are certain the immigrant is illegal, and they should be detained with the least amount of force possible.

 @B6VQ4YH from Texas  answered…6 days6D

If it's petty crimes let them go there's so many American citizens who do the same thing and get let out so why should it be different for them

 @B6VGZFF from Tennessee  answered…7 days7D

Not if they are actively working on obtaining citizenship or visa and have not been convicted of a crime

 @B6VGYKHIndependent from Minnesota  answered…7 days7D

No, but if the process were easier to get into the US or you’re a child of an illegal immigrant, then yes.

 @B6VFMNG from Ohio  answered…1wk1W

An illegal immigrant should be provided the same legal protections and rights within the United States as citizens, as allowing an local law enforcement to hand an immigrant to federal authorities creates the precedent that even the wrongly accused must go through the federal governments rules and regulations, which are more susceptible to individual bias and administration changes. Local authorities on the other hand may hold the illegal immigrant and wait for any federal government intervention unless there is a clear and present reason to hand them over from the custody of local law enforcement to the federal government.

 @B6VCHHHfrom Connecticut  answered…1wk1W

Immigrants who are illegal, and convicted of a minor crime should be prosecuted as any other American, they should be put on probation and be given the opportunity to still petition for American citizenship, which should be made easier to obtain.

 @B6VBFYQ from Missouri  answered…1wk1W

Make them work community service. If they want to be in the country, the have to help the country first.

 @B6V8ZD8 from California  answered…1wk1W

I believe that law enforcement should only deport the illegal immigrants who are doing illegal thing’s such as drug dealing and whatever else.

 @B6V8W9S from Massachusetts  answered…1wk1W

This is being done in the wrong way and abusing the word "minor crime." Currently if any illegal immigrant does something wrong they are sent to federal immigration authorities which is a problem. There needs to be a better system, and sending every illegal immigrant to be processed is not the American way.

 @B6V79Y7 from California  answered…1wk1W

There should be a process to which they are held accountable for their actions. If they are serving our country like any other citizen, then they should be provided that same process for us.

 @B6TYL8BIndependent from Illinois  answered…1wk1W

 @B6TGKW4 from Washington  answered…1wk1W

 @B6TDZ5X from Mississippi  answered…1wk1W

 @B6TBK83 from Texas  answered…1wk1W

not if they have begun the citizenship process, they should go before a judge and not deported. Violent crimes should be a deportation if found guilt. Conspiracy, gang related, gun related charges etc. should be deported if found guilty by a judge

 @B6T8C86 from New York  answered…1wk1W

Maybe... But they should in the very least be treated with kindness if they are non-violent. The current treatment and actions are disgusting

 @B6T5CVN from Texas  answered…1wk1W

all crimes are serious but if its minor crime that isn't murder or stealing or SA they should be given a proper process to redeem themselves

 @B6T4ZV6Progressive from Virginia  answered…1wk1W

No, many illegal immigrants have fled here for a reason and we should have mercy on them, however if they resort to violence or crimes then yes they should be detained but they should only be deported if they have heeded warnings or done major crimes. or they can simply be put in jail.

 @B6T25VL from Pennsylvania  answered…1wk1W

I feel like immigrants who are Truley criminals should be deported. I also feel its depends on what crime etc.

 @B6SZVQ8 from Maryland  answered…1wk1W

Only if they commited a violent crime and/or completely and purposely ignored/circumvented the process to become a citizen and earn a green card. Too many non-violent immigrants are being deported, with good reason to leave their current state, especially when the current process is so extrenous and failing them anyway, and now it is escalating to legal immigrants. Not to mention many actual citizens commit equally violent crimes and aren't punished.

 @B6SZQ62 from Indiana  answered…1wk1W

I think they should be less strict on the border but yes remove illegal immigrants but at least try and help them immigrate if they don't have a violent history

 @B6SZ2KF from California  answered…1wk1W

yes, unless the illegal immigrants are fleeing from danger, or seeking refuge, then they should be transferred to refugee camps.

 @B6SXS9B from Oregon  answered…1wk1W

allowing this easily can cause even more racial profiling and cause racists to focus on petty crimes as opposed to crimes that are objectively more important

 @B6SNRDH from Pennsylvania  answered…1wk1W

If they committed a crime, they should just be tried for that crime honestly. Though, if they're found to be an illegal immigrant, I would say it can be plausible to send them to immigration authorities for them to decide what to do with them, but not an immediate deportation.

 @B6SNLWD from Colorado  answered…1wk1W

There are many illegals who go to work and pay taxes. I think a person with a clean history should not be deported for minor violations.

 @B6SFPG5Independent from Nevada  answered…1wk1W

 @B6SFM4F from Illinois  answered…1wk1W

Yes, deport all illegal immigrants, but only after the government steps in and curbs crime in majority black communities in inner cities, and deports H1B seekers back to India and Pakistan

 @B6RYMF2 from Florida  answered…2wks2W

They should only be transferred if it is a violent or major crime. There should a "warning " system.

 @B6RPQP5 from Florida  answered…2wks2W

Yes, only after being formally charged and formally convicted of the minor crime, and then only after they have been formally charged with a criminal immigration offense.
