The administration says that the immigrants they are detaining are dangerous but in reality the studies and the statistics indicate that over 70% of the illegal immigrants have no criminal record.

 @B789C3Q from Illinois  disagreed…3wks3W

I don't get why people wanna deport illegal immigrant it's really awful they have been doing nothing but caring for they're family all they want was a happy life and they wanna work and not to mention they have been doing an amazing job at doing constructions but what I don't like the most is how people are assumed they are bad but at the end of the day we are human beings we get nervous we get scared we get sad happy angry but the one thing is to never judge a book by it's cover.

Immigrants are humans as well. Many immigrants escape from violent oppression, inability to climb up any social or financial ladder from their previous country due to the fact that many have no ladders. Many argue that if you don't like America, don't run to it; however, this argument is completely small minded. America has the ability to grow socially and in general. America is the next best option to them but this is only saying so much; just because the grass isn't greener on the other side, does not make our grass green. Of course our country seems amazing compared to a cou…  Read more

They are people too, if they are desperate for a safe place to go and they are not harming anyone, our country should find a way to support them.

 @B78DM2F from Illinois  agreed…3wks3W

The country is built by immigrants. We should be supporting the workers who contribute to the economy and don't pose any type of threat.

 @B78HXVY from Georgia  agreed…3wks3W

Everyone deserves their natural rights that were given to them at birth and they cannot be taken away by the government for merely coming here.

 @9FQLH8PRepublican  from California  disagreed…2yrs2Y

There's no other way to resolve illegal immigration crisis. We need to stop them at the boarder, and detain and deport those who enter the country illegally.

 @B7H5ZRSPeace and Freedom from California  agreed…1wk1W

Put yourself in their shoes. What if that was you or your family. You are hurting hard working, the hands that feed you and I dont think that it is fair.

There are many cases of illegal immigrants helping the construction of buildings. They help with cultures being pasted down such as spaghetti, tacos, and rice. They also helped with having many valuable things such as phones and other resources. They also pay taxes like any other citizen. Getting rid of them would mean losing economic values.

 @B78FWMRDemocrat from New Jersey  agreed…3wks3W

EXACTLYYY this makes me so happy to see this comment because its so true immigrants literally help this country. Pro-democrat!!!

 @B78GX7JPeace and Freedom from Illinois  agreed…3wks3W

I agree because a lot of people like the immigrants' culture and spend tons of money to experience their culture, which means letting them go means lowering the economic values, but this could also prove the president wrong. Deporting will show him that deporting immigrants will wipe away his money.

 @B6NCX22Independent  from Missouri  disagreed…2mos2MO

Not EVERY illegal immigrant should be turned over to the federal authorities and deported because not every illegal immigrant commits crimes or is only here to live life on easy mode. The majority of immigrants are here to work only to have a better life or to provide a better life to their kids, it was only when Biden had an open border policy that we saw illegal immigrants (especially Venezuelans, unfortunately, since I myself am one) commit crimes and it wasn't all of them, it was just a few one of them. "not every illegal immigrant commits crimes" is self contradictory. You broke the nations law (commiting a crime) by improperly enting the country. Correct me if i am wrong.

 @B6NH2DH from Florida  agreed…2mos2MO

In a way I agree with your statement, as someone who has immigrant relatives I am aware of the few bad ones who come to this country and do nothing but stain the name of immigrants in a bad light. However, I believe that it is not because they are immigrants that they act the way they do, but rather are just that way whether they're illegal or not and because of racism people tend to point the blame that they are illegal is the cause of crimes. I definitely agree with the fact that many immigrants come here for a better life and as someone who has seen this dream come true and is now being ripped away is something so sad that no human should have to deal with.

 @B786Z25Women’s Equality from Colorado  disagreed…3wks3W

Nobody is technically illegal, the US is a free country and we've been told for years to never deny anyone the right to freedom. If immigrants find that their freedom is here in the US then we should allow them to stay because they are only helping our community more instead of brining it down.

 @B7836RG from Georgia  disagreed…3wks3W

Immigration policies and naturalization processes are extremely hard and often take so many years. ICE is currently doing things that are unconstitutional

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...12yrs12Y

No, too many non-violent immigrants are being deported

 @9FQ6Y66 from South Dakota  agreed…2yrs2Y

It is largely our own actions which have created the "border crisis." Above, I noted the ways in which we created conditions in "source" countries which have led to the migrations we're seeing. Also, we haven't properly funded immigration courts so that they can act on cases expeditiously. When someone lives in this country for years waiting for a court date, it should not be surprising that removing them at this point would be hugely disruptive to the deported person, his/her family, and often his/her US community. None of that is the fault of the immigrants.

Why would America want to ban potential citizens from our beloved country? if our country was originally brought up my immigrants why is the country all of a sudden against it?

  @HelcovichEmireRepublican from Maryland  disagreed…5mos5MO

We aren't against immigration, we're against ILLEGAL immigration. Get your facts straight! Immigration can be done legally, but they're doing it ILLEGALLY.

 @B78KL92 from Oregon  agreed…3wks3W

Undocumented immigrants in the United states pay an estimated 30-35 billion dollars in taxes per year. That makes 4.4% of people who are employed which would be a huge hit to our economy.

 @B789C3Q from Illinois  agreed…3wks3W

it is true there are non violent immigrants that are being deported and it's not okay for them they get scared and worried because when they get deported they don't know where they're family is going and who is gonna provide care for them

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...12yrs12Y

No, only if they are convicted of a violent crime

 @B7J8DM3 from Virginia  agreed…5 days5D

if they are caught repeatedly doing bad stuff, then just send them to jail where they are from with community service, after they realize that they were bad can they come back

 @B6SJBV8 from Texas  agreed…1mo1MO

Most of the immigrants that come to this country arrive just to give their family a better life, they pay taxes and contribute to the economy by attending their job, yet several are deported just because they were not born in this land and not due to any crime commited.

 @B6NCX22Independent  from Missouri  agreed…2mos2MO

It just feels like we are turning the blame towards illegal immigrants for everything when 99% of us are here to work.

 @B7MMV95 from California  agreed…5hrs5H

This is reasonable, it depends what they have done, and seeing if they have changed throughout time of their charges.

 @9TNCM45 from California  answered…1yr1Y

Yes

Yes, the punishment for illegal immigration should be execution.

A one week amnesty chance where they will simply be deported to their country of origin first. Should they not take this benevolent opportunity, a few executions to show we're serious should be enough to convince most to leave of their own accord. Exceptions for victims of human trafficking, where deportation is acceptable.

  @Patriot-#1776Constitution from Washington  commented…1yr1Y

Execute human traffickers, gang leaders, and drug cartel members as examples – draw and quarter them and put their heads on spears in public places. If we want to stop crime, we have to be willing to do what it takes to stop crime. We must strike terror into criminals' hearts and show them we mean business

  @HelcovichEmireRepublican from Maryland  commented…5mos5MO

Only if you can prove they've actually killed someone. If not, then death is never justified.

  @HelcovichEmireRepublican from Maryland  commented…5mos5MO

We should build a giant wall on the southern border and put sniper towers on it! Like a prison, think of Mexico as a big prison, we gotta keep them border hoppers from hopping our border.

 @8MCNGGC from Virginia  answered…5yrs5Y

I think that it is only fair for illegal immigrants involved in minor crimes to be referred to authorities.

 @9GZDTYYIndependent from Maryland  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, local law enforcement should be allowed to transfer immigrants to federal immigration authorities no matter what crime if they were found to be illegal

 @9DYQYY7Libertarian  from Arizona  answered…2yrs2Y

If someone commits a crime which falls under State jurisdiction due to it's nature, then it should be handled by the State. If it is a federal crime, then it should be prosecuted by the federal government. But a persons immigration status, while it can be a federal offense, should have no impact on the fair trial or treatment of the accused simply.

 @AnteaterLaylaRepublicanfrom Texas  asked…2yrs2Y

Would you then suggest a different approach for local law enforcement when they encounter individuals with uncertain immigration status? Or do you believe that the existing systems in place adequately address this issue?

 @Brandonnoe84Libertarian  from Colorado  answered…9mos9MO

Yes, illegal immigrants should be handed over to federal authorities and deported but there should be a simple path to citizenship for illegal immigrants with no criminal record.

 @9H4V8MF from Arizona  answered…2yrs2Y

No, only if convicted of a violent crime. Law enforcement should have the ability to report to the federal government but not detain them

The illegality of their immigration is another issue than what they are there for, consider where they are in the citizenship process

 @8LQTFM7 from Massachusetts  answered…5yrs5Y

I think "deported" is a strong word and they should be put in jail like everyone else.

 @8LR3WX9Constitution from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

Crime-committing illegal immigrants should be detained and deported, however, make it official with the entire deported's family on which country they need to choose to stay in for the rest of their citizenship

 @9FK25GX from Connecticut  answered…2yrs2Y

No and abolish the police and ICE

  @9CJ6CB6 from Virginia  commented…2yrs2Y

Okay, ICE I can understand, but destroying the police without drastic social changes we’d be unprepared. Work to make the police force less on the violent side, replace some of them with social workers and reduce qualified immunity. Lord needs to be done, but cold abolition is a really bad idea right now.

 @8W5HJMCWorkers from Florida  answered…4yrs4Y

it depends on the crime if it causes mental problems to the victim in the future then yes if not then they should have mandatory community service but in the case of a violent crime then they should be convicted

Illegal immigrants should work towards gaining their citizenship. This is a hard process, but in order to live in this country one should have legal citizenship. However, one cannot come into this country illegally and expect to get away with minor crimes. They should be punished justly according to the constitution, this may include deportation. However, it is a definite deportation for larger crimes, or a higher punishment for crimes such as rape or murder.

 @B6XN8BB from West Virginia  answered…4wks4W

I think that if they are a citizen who has proof and lives in the US that they should be left alone but if they just came into the country with no citizenship and are causing problems that they should be deported.

 @B7K8Y7Jfrom Guam  answered…4 days4D

no, only if they are convicted of violent crimes, too many non violent immigrants are being deported. instead local law enforcement should provide an endorsement of sorts to help illegal immigrants whom are law abiding to make easier for a visa to stay in the US

 @B7JTM5P from Virginia  answered…5 days5D

I believe that we shouldn't deport immigrants who have been convicted of small crimes like DUIs, but people who have convicted worse crime should be sentenced

 @B7H2FBP from Oklahoma  answered…1wk1W

They should be able to detain them no matter what, since they are there illegall,y they have already committed a crime

 @B7GMR87 from Ohio  answered…1wk1W

they should still be able to detain them for a crime, but should not transfer them to federal immigration authorities unless they have committed a violent crime

 @B7F7PG8 from Colorado  answered…1wk1W

It depends on the crime they have committed, if it’s federal crime and extremely violent then yes however if it’s rather a civil offense then don’t be too harsh.

 @B7DCQC7 from California  answered…2wks2W

No, violent crimes of both illegal and legal people should be taken more seriously than minor crimes

 @B7CDSHB from California  answered…2wks2W

If they immigrated from their area and is making crimes they should not have immigrated but if they immigrated and is living and working and not in any trouble they should be able to stay

 @B7BGDY9 from California  answered…2wks2W

i think that its wrong the way some cops handle illegals but if they did cause something to happen and they dont have papers then its kind of their fault and since they dont have papers to stay its like they should be taken back.

 @B7B6QD4 from South Carolina  answered…2wks2W

Local law enforcement should be able to detain anyone for a crime or penalize them, but if they are illegal immigrants, they should only be able to give the information to the Federal Immigration authorities, not deport the immigrants themselves.

 @B79H5CH from California  answered…2wks2W

yes if the crimes they commit, they committed willingly and the officers did not violate the 4th ammendment

 @B78ZQ7Y from Washington  answered…2wks2W

Illegal immigrants should have the opportunity to legalize once in US without being deported but if committing and act of violence, theft, or other crime should be detained and deported.

 @B78SJFD from Texas  answered…2wks2W

Discretion to do so should be allowed, but not required. Sometimes violent criminals are caught for minor crimes.

 @B78PDQ7Constitution from Georgia  answered…2wks2W

 @B78P58C from North Carolina  answered…2wks2W

 @B78JL34Progressive from Kansas  answered…3wks3W

No, someone that does a small crime should not be punished be being turned in to immigration authorities.

 @B78DVL9Peace and Freedom from Texas  answered…3wks3W

 @B7868K5 from Ohio  answered…3wks3W

I think it depends on the crimes they have done, but I still don't think that they should be handled differently than any other criminals in the US. Whether they are immigrants or not.

 @B785GMR from Michigan  answered…3wks3W

Depending on record and how they are illegal in this country. Yes, if they have a criminal record or snuck into the country. No, if they don't have a criminal record or if they have been here legally but are technically illegal due to citizenship being denied/pushed off.

 @B784YJL from Michigan  answered…3wks3W

If they commit a violent crime they should be deported back to their home country. If they show a legit place of employment or have children here then they should be forced to take the applicable steps to become an American citizen or get their green card.

 @B784XBNNo Labels from New York  answered…3wks3W

I think if the person is actively going through the process of becoming a citizen the legal way, they should not be deported. But if they are here illegally and have no plan to leave they should have a chance to do it legally after being deported.

 @B784QBT from Georgia  answered…3wks3W

They should be appropriately punished for their crime and should have a fair trial, unless they're country wants them back or there are too many inmates/convicted people. If they have a country to go back to but there is some reason they shouldn't go back to their country they get a fair trial. If they committed more of a political crime or can bee a political prisoner they should be treated fairly and appropriately.

 @B77V4VFRepublican from New Jersey  answered…3wks3W

Yes, they should be transferred for entering the nation illegally, but only major crimes should be included on top of that.

 @B77QGFK from New Hampshire  answered…3wks3W

Law enforcement must produce evidence and/or charge someone with illegal entry to the U.S. in order to detain them.

 @B77QBL8Independent from North Carolina  answered…3wks3W

Multiple chances instead of deportation would be favorable, they are still contributing members of their communities, and as long as they don't exhibit violent acts or behaviors, they should be kept.

 @B77KNCQ from Georgia  answered…3wks3W

IF they have not committed major crimes than help them through the legal process and if they refuse deport them. If they have committed major crimes deport them.

 @B77HLCFRepublican from Florida  answered…3wks3W

Illegal immigrants that have committed minor crimes should get a second chance (the crime committed won't be forgiven though)

 @B77HBF9 from California  answered…3wks3W

I think immigrants who commit crimes in general should be taken to court and be trialed on the crime they committed and whether or not depending on the crime they should be taken back to their country. For example if the immigrant commits a crime like murder they should be taken back to their country, but if they committed a crime like stealing food from a grocery store I think they should stay within the country and face the consequences of what a regular citizen in the United states would face.

 @B77DLF9 from New York  answered…3wks3W

Yes, if you commit a crime after you got into the US, then you've made the wrong decision and shouldn't stay here. committing a crime when you aren't even a citizen should get you deported.

 @B77C4JZ from Washington  answered…3wks3W

Yes, but one’s who don’t commit violent, misdemeanors or felony crimes should be provided a path towards citizenship

 @B77BDTD from Indiana  answered…3wks3W

All minor crimes for everyone should AT LEAST get you detained but illegal immigrants shouldn't be transferred to the immigration authorities but it depends if they are a danger to society.

 @B777BQQ from Pennsylvania  answered…3wks3W

If the crime is not major (such as murder/ grand theft auto), they should not be deported, but should be handed over to authorities.

 @B776J57 from Illinois  answered…3wks3W

They should receive punishment for their crime, but then be given a hearing to decide what to do with them, either deport them or put them on the path to gaining citizenship.

 @B76ZN6CPeace and Freedom from Illinois  answered…3wks3W

Yes, a minor breaking the law should face a small consequence, like a fine, for people living in the U.S. illegally, but it should never result in deportation if that is the only criminal record they hold.

 @B76YN5YRepublican from Oregon  answered…3wks3W

Local law enforcement should not be dealing with illegal immigration due to the fact that immigrants will become afraid to report crimes because of their status.

 @B76V9FBWomen’s Equality from Montana  answered…3wks3W

The only immigrants that should be deported are the ones who are raping and murdering. There are many innocent immigrants and they deserve to live peacefully. Deporting them isn’t even giving them a chance to become a legal citizen.

yes, unless the illegal immigrant is seeking refuge and help or asylum, then they should be sent to asylum instead,

 @B76KT7C from Oregon  answered…3wks3W
