What's a personal story where 'faith, hope, and love' played critical roles in tackling a social issue?

 @9KB9B5J from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

I think just general care and love for other human beings can help solve a lot of social issues. I don’t think they need to be rooted in faith but just in being a good person.

Political issues are purely political issues and no other. Unless you feel strongly about something that could affect your life.

What does a compassionate community look like to you, and how do we build it?

 @9KWKMYB from North Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

A compassionate community looks like peace, it looks like a clean area that no littering is allowed in, I imagine it being clean, rsectfu, and soothing.

 @9KWL2N8 from New York  answered…2yrs2Y

A compassionate community is a community in Which everyone loves themselves and each other, and everyone forms a great bond.

 @9KWKX46Democrat from Pennsylvania  answered…2yrs2Y

A compassionate group are people who like what they like and try to convince others to follow with their beliefs. A way to build these groups is to work on finding people who believe in you common idea to join and then start working to recruit people who may not have similar beliefs.

How do you interpret 'faith without works is dead' in the context of social activism and charity?

 @9JKR27M from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

I don't believe in such thing, faith will never die.

 @9JMS73JIndependent from Michigan  disagreed…2yrs2Y

faith isn't anything if your actions aren't proving it clearly. it is only fantasy. real faith produces actions everytime.

 @9JKSCXX from Tennessee  answered…2yrs2Y

This means that without carrying out our values, like actually helping the poor or saving the environment, then those values really mean nothing and it's just performative. People who say they have values to help people but don't actually do the hard work to help people are lying to themselves.

 @9JKR3S8 from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

When have you seen 'loving your neighbor' make a real difference in your local community?

 @9K9V6BHIndependent from Georgia  answered…2yrs2Y

Haven't seen his before, but doesn't mean it doesn't work for communities

 @9KHWP29 from Colorado  agreed…2yrs2Y

Jesus teaches that we should love our neighbor this is the second command he gives us, if more people did this there would be less problems in the world.

 @9K9VCDJ from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

I feel like there isn't a lot of loving your neighbor in my local community. It seems people are very judgmental and quick to judge others instead of agreeing to disagree. I know it is possible to get along with others who have different beliefs and values than you do, because I have friends myself who have different beliefs, yet we can get along.

 @9K9V4PP from Colorado  answered…2yrs2Y

It does show a difference because it's about showing kindness, compassion and support to those around you.

 @9K9PTY2answered…2yrs2Y

I think religion is a problem and is a direct inhibitor in unifying the people. I also think there needs to be more separation of church and state and politicians should not be able to use religious beliefs in as political (or party) values / beliefs..

 @ISIDEWITHasked…2yrs2Y

What is one way you’ve seen ‘faith without works is dead’ in action in your community?

How would you handle a situation where standing up for what’s right could cost you personally?

 @9KV3BS8 from Georgia  answered…2yrs2Y

The Christian Left movement grapples with social justice issues through the lens of Christian values. This can lead to situations where speaking up for what's right might come at a personal cost. Here are some ways to navigate such a situation:

Evaluate the Situation:

Severity of Cost: Consider the potential consequences. Is it a disagreement with a friend, a potential risk to your job, or something more serious?
Alternatives: Are there other ways to address the issue that might be less confrontational? Can you educate or persuade others without directly challenging authority?

How do you think individuals can balance their moral convictions with respecting diverse viewpoints in public discourse?

 @9LDZMZN from Minnesota  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9LDZWJH from Missouri  answered…2yrs2Y

They can approach diverse viewpoints with respect and understanding. The biggest problem people have when talking about their religious views, is that they refuse to acknowledge that people can have different opinions than them. But, treating someone with respect immediately, will cause them to treat you with respect too.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…2yrs2Y

What is an example of a time when you've 'bore one another's burdens' and how did it change you?

 @9K9PMXR from Utah  answered…2yrs2Y

There has been many times but I would probably say when someone in my ward got diagnosed with cancer and everyone in the ward made dinner and helped them out.

 @9K9P4R6 from Arizona  answered…2yrs2Y

I am not sure if I've ever experienced this personally, but I would appreciate if the government acknowledge other religions other than Christianity.

 @9K9PKYKPeace and Freedom from Iowa  answered…2yrs2Y

I paid for someone to play a game with me, and I had to bare the burden of the cost of the game.

What does 'loving your neighbor as yourself' mean in the age of the internet and social media?

 @9LH2F4J from North Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

Don’t treat others in a way you wouldn’t want to be treated

 @9LHG79D from Pennsylvania  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Loving one's neighbor as yourself should be characterized more as caring enough to hold them accountable as responsible people, rather than simply not treating them unfavorably. Sometimes people don't want to have responsibility, but it is in their best interest and/or more meaningful.

 @9LH2YS9 from Florida  answered…2yrs2Y

The Christian Left is generous in there morality but dangerous in overall convictions.

 @9LH2TZ6Green from Missouri  answered…2yrs2Y

I think Christians don't follow these values. As an atheist it doesn't concern me.

 @9JKR2XQ from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

I stand with the constitution of separation of church and government.

 @9JKRS54 from Virginia  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9JKQTHWWorking Family from Minnesota  answered…2yrs2Y

What do you feel is the biggest challenge in aligning Christian values with modern politics?

 @9HFNGLG from Utah  answered…3yrs3Y

In my opinion Christian values should not or dictate any kind of political issue. I think when someone brings religion into politics it seriously favors only a section of the country.

What lessons can we learn from early Christian communities that practiced sharing and equality that are relevant today?

 @9HFNT3FLibertarian from Tennessee  answered…3yrs3Y

We should give freely and because we have a heart for others rather than because we are compelled by force.

 @9HFNY52 from Kansas  answered…3yrs3Y

Religious ideology is not always a bad thing, and it depends on the person or people following it. When people truly follow the beliefs and uphold the values of a specific community built upon peace and love, then it will stay that way.

 @9HFNZ9C from California  answered…3yrs3Y

We can learn that equality should be important in Christian communities and churches.

 @9HG6WLP from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

Some of the main themes that Jesus taught, which Christians later embraced, include: Love God. Love your neighbor as yourself. Forgive others who have wronged you.

Should environmental protection be a core Christian value based on the belief in stewardship of God's creation?

 @9H8QBWManswered…3yrs3Y

 @9H8QNW7 from Missouri  answered…3yrs3Y

As someone who does not currently identify with any religion and ESPECIALLY not Christian but knows quite a bit about Christianity due to my past I think that Christians should care what happens to the planet "God put them on." It's silly to be so ignorant yet claim you are the best and the "children of the lord" if you are not doing anything to prove it.

 @9H8QLS4 from Georgia  answered…3yrs3Y

we cannot honestly declare that we love God, nor love Jesus, while at the same time destroying His creation, which He declared to be good and exists to glorify Him.

How does your understanding of biblical teachings on wealth inform your views on economic policies?

 @9HVJNLLConstitution from North Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

I believe that Christians who support the current left political view of abortion is a fake Christian.

  @9CJ6CB6 from Virginia  commented…2yrs2Y

If you believe in god and Jesus, congratulations, you’re a Christian.

 @9HVKJQ6 from Tennessee  answered…2yrs2Y

While I don't like imposing the religious beliefs of others upon the general public, it is a fact that the rich are getting richer and the poor are poorer. The Bible would have the rich take care of the widow and the orphan. Feed the hungry, nurse the sick, and visit the imprisoned. My beliefs indeed inform my Biblical views on economic policies, but I think these particular religious principles are common sense solutions to the grossly uneven distribution of wealth and the growing population of impoverished people in America.

When it comes to healthcare, how do you reconcile Jesus' healing ministry with the debate over access and affordability?

 @9HFP759Republican from Missouri  answered…3yrs3Y

With access and affordability, Jesus's healing methods can be used, but only if someone continually prays and seeks their faith in God. The "miracles" seen on social media is full of actors and false teachings.

 @9HFP4B8Democrat from Michigan  answered…3yrs3Y

It should be a basic healthcare for all people to prevent death and disability but the rich should still have the right to get better healthcare because healthcare like any system isn't fitted for on social group.

 @9HFH7HWWomen’s Equality from California  answered…3yrs3Y

It has shaped my thoughts on the intersection of faith and advocating for the environment is depending on the persons intention. Some only use it to their advantages and don't really care and hurting the environment..

I think faith and religion correspond with advocating for the environment because we did not make the universe so we shouldn't destroy it.

Is it more important for Christians to focus on personal charity or to advocate for systemic change to help the disadvantaged?

 @9H8NCJ7 from Pennsylvania  answered…3yrs3Y

I think it's more important that Christians focus on advocating for national change rather than their own personal charity.

 @9H8MTXW from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

Systemic change for the best charity to give the needy is to prevent them from being needy in the first place.
