Should the federal government increase funding of health care for low income individuals (Medicaid)?
No, and eligibility should only include the elderly and disabled
Arguments have been made about eligibility about Medicaid only supporting elders and disabled
But what about struggling low income families? What about orphan children that have no body supporting them? When people picture the flaws of the USA, their first instinct is to criticize how poorly the healthcare is taken care of. What makes you think that restricting a free healthcare, which other countries already have, will make our foreign relations respect us? As a person that received Medicaid for a long time, I know about the struggles of maintaining good health to avoid going to hospitals. If the illness was life threatening, then it would be proper to take any measure to pay for healthcare. The problem is, however, even if the harm was minor, the charges exceed proper amounts. Accidents happen and these lower income families are left to fend for themselves, even if they are struggling. I strong disagree with this position on Medicaid.
