i think being able to protect yourself and your family is important but also knowing that people who shouldn't buy a gun are able to should be changed. it should require more rules and paper work to be allowed to carry or own a gun. its not the gun who kills people its the person behind the gun who does.

I agree. There's no reason we should have military-level guns residing with every day citizens. US made sure to make America peaceful--not a warzone, but we carry those guns anyway. We don't need something so extreme. Handgun is fine, you can commit atrocities with those, but you can with military-level. Besides, soldiers who handle those guns are trained to, but an everyday citizen can have one?

i think we are at the point where we arent going to be able to get rid of all guns; no matter what laws we put in place. guns will always be available. so while I don't see a point in completely outlawing firearms, I think the restrictions on getting a gun should be fairly strict. there's no reason that pretty much anyone should be able to have a gun. in terms of automatic weapons, no civilian should be able to have them. there's zero logical reason for a normal American citizen to have access to automatic firearms.
