I believe that it goes both ways. The government and individuals should work together to continue to keep the nations traditional values.

 @9HFFT2TDemocrat from Wisconsin  answered…3yrs3Y

individuals should have freedom to live however they please as long as they do not interfere with the freedom of others.

 @9HGGF72 from California  answered…3yrs3Y

I think it would go in both ways. If individuals prioritize the preservation of their nation's traditional values, they should actively strive towards it. Collaboration and collective efforts are essential in this endeavor, as it cannot solely rely on the responsibility of an individual or a single group

 @9HFJJ3PDemocrat from New York  answered…3yrs3Y

 @9HG745Ranswered…3yrs3Y

It should be left to individuals. Times change, and what the people want for their country is most important. Preserving tradition is meaningless if it is not what the individuals want.

 @9HDMZZQ from Utah  answered…3yrs3Y

I think it should be both. If someone really cares about preserving their nation's traditional values, they'll work for it. They all can work together. It should be just one person's or one group's responsibility.

the government should preserve traditional values in terms of being constitutional and supporting freedom in our country. yet our country is evolving and we should be open to changes, but not disrespectful to traditions that started our freedom.

 @9K7MKKW  from Washington  answered…2yrs2Y

Government has no duty but to protect our God-given rights to life, liberty, and property – so unless those rights are threatened by a degradation of traditional values, it should not use political power over this matter. However, it is currently at open war with traditional values, which is far more evil than the above scenario – the government should abolish all Affirmative Action programs, end DEI, abolish abortion, ban transgender surgeries for all persons under 25 years of age and revoke the medical liscenses of those who perform such surgeries on any person of any age, and return to the States the ability to ban "gay marriage". So, in short, government should step out of the way.

 @9RY6LLB from Oregon  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Leave the people to conduct themselves as they wish. The government should not impose biased opinion into society, only provide the means of foundation for a functional, collaborative society to thrive.

 @9K7MKKW from Washington  disagreed…2yrs2Y

If you wish to mass-murder innocent babies or mutilate and butcher third-grade-school-children for the sake of gender confusion or systematically discriminate against whites, no, you shouldn't be allowed to "conduct yourself as you wish."

 @9K9CC35 from Texas  disagreed…2yrs2Y

When this government was founded, traditional values were proposed that reflected theories and ideas that have long since been proven. A nation should involve with its individuals and the population that it serves, not be reliant on centuries-old policies and dishonesty.

 @9K7MKKW from Washington  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Hate to break it to you, but the centuries-old Constitution is the highest law of the land – if you don't like it, leave. No one wants you around destroying their liberty.

 @9K98V2Z from Oklahoma  disagreed…2yrs2Y

As a citizen of the United States I am pro choice, I believe that we should have the right to make decisions for our bodies and lives. Banning gay marriage isn't going to stop people from being apart of the LGBTQ+ community, other individuals relationships should be in their own control and not ours, as they are not affecting anybody else. Abolishing abortion is only going to create greater issues, the majority of individuals who get abortions get them for the reason of not being in a mental, physical, or financial position to raise a child. This means that there would be more children…  Read more

No, what you want is to make decisions about other people's bodies and lives, by murdering children whose existence you deem inconvenient or embarrassing. If you were truly "Pro-Choice," you leftists would want business owners to have the right to choose how to run their businesses, people to have the right to choose not to pay taxes, and the right to choose to keep and bear whatever arms they want wherever they want, and the right to choose to not vaccine their children, and the right to choose what's taught in their children's classrooms, and the right to choose to…  Read more

Left to individuals. Personally, the need to try to "preserve your culture" against other cultures seems to be very different from "the great mixing pot" that America was supposed to be. It's good to connect to cultural heritage but not to push that on others.

 @9HFK55QRepublican from California  answered…3yrs3Y

That should be left to the individuals because that comes from the people and not from the government.

 @9HDLVZRRepublican from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

I believe that the role of the government is to do what is best for the people. "This is what the LORD says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’" Jeremiah 6:16

 @9HGMKBH from Ohio  answered…3yrs3Y

A nations traditions live in its people, the government is not the keeper of the flame. The people decide what’s important to them not some politician.

 @9HF763M from Kansas  answered…3yrs3Y

That should be left to individuals. However, it is the government’s job to uphold and defend the US Constitution. Wherever that intersects with traditional values, the federal government has an obligation.

 @9HDRN28Peace and Freedom from Arizona  answered…3yrs3Y

I think it should be both. If they care about preserving the nation's traditional value they will make it work and figure things out . They all can work together.

 @9HG9ZXGanswered…3yrs3Y

It should be left to individuals, we can't evolve as a nation otherwise.

 @9HDMGQD from Utah  answered…3yrs3Y

I think this should be left to individuals so they can choose what they value most instead of having it chosen for them.

 @9HDNG6J from Iowa  answered…3yrs3Y

It should be left to the individuals in every situation. The nation doesn't have values, the people of the nation do, and those people are living, so the values should be living and changing too.

 @9HKDCM6answered…3yrs3Y

I would say it can be both to be honest because the individuals should be able to choose whether to continue to following a nations traditional values and the government should ensure that it is optional.

 @9HDNXT3Republicananswered…3yrs3Y

It should be both because if individuals rep those values then so should the gov. because they rep us

 @9HDT8VP from Nevada  answered…3yrs3Y

A nation will have to adapt as time goes by. We cannot apply every single traditional principle to today's world as the world has adapted and changed over time. The individuals residing in the country make up the countries values, so it should be their responsibility and the government's responsibility to monitor and ensure it is safe and progressive.

 @9HG7BNY from Georgia  answered…3yrs3Y

I think that it should be left up to the people if it is threating national identity

 @9HFBP47Justice party memberanswered…3yrs3Y

I think it's up to both individuals and the government. Individuals are free to practice their nation's traditional values, and the nation should express them more because nationalism is a beautiful thing.

 @9HMCL3Q answered…3yrs3Y

I feel that it should be left to the individuals. Though the government has its own values it was built on, it should not force those values on others.

 @9HMKMKZ from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

I think it should be left to the individuals, I don’t believe the government has the right to be involved in people’s personal lives of enforce them to follow a particular belief.

 @9HDTR7GIndependent from Wisconsin  answered…3yrs3Y

The question answers itself. Traditional values are meaningless if the individuals themselves do not subscribe to them. Without belief tradition is just going through the motions of obsolete processes.

 @9HHJFHTDemocrat from Washington D.C.  answered…3yrs3Y

I think the government should contribute to the nation's values but they should be a little easier to adapt to modern times.

 @9HKC8C7 from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

Left to the individual. We're literally built on immigrants... all of our ancestors moved here. Moreover, we're literally built on the freedom to be ourselves, whether it be speech or religion, and so should have out own values. Also, most of these "traditional values" are religious, which isn't very "freedom of religion".

 @9HKCNYW from South Carolina  commented…3yrs3Y

 @9HKHLCG from New York  answered…3yrs3Y

Government should not be aloud to control traditional values and that should be left to the individual persons

 @9HFC729 from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

The individuals. They only express what they believe and cannot force others to think so.

 @SweetZiLibertarian  from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

No. “Tradition” doesn’t exist in the United States. Tradition as in female and male marrying, having children, dad goes to work, and mom stays home isn’t anything but a value of an individual. The USA is diverse. There are traditions everywhere. If we preserve one tradition over another and incorporate it into our law, that will do injustice to other people’s freedoms.

 @9HPH79G  from Oregon  answered…2yrs2Y

That should be left to individuals. Values change with time, and new laws need to be instated to accurately reflect the public's needs. Also, the government should always adhere to the rights and choices of the people, rather than the past.

 @9HJ6R8S from New York  answered…3yrs3Y

Both the government and individuals share the duty of preserving a nations traditional values.

 @9HGK34M from Arkansas  answered…3yrs3Y

It should be left to individuals to decide what they want to do. We can't force someone into something, or they'll resent it, so it should be left to them to decide what they do.

 @9HHJVYQPeace and Freedom  from Colorado  answered…3yrs3Y

I think it should be a mix of both. the government can help to give a push to this problem while the individuals themselves are in charge of changing.

 @9HFGPXVRepublican from Tennessee  answered…3yrs3Y

Both, the government should protect them and the people should respect them

 @9HGDCNZ from California  answered…3yrs3Y

Its on both the government and individuals they can both preserve a nation's traditional values and work together to preserve them and continue with traditional values.

 @9HHKFR2answered…3yrs3Y

Traditional values can be good and remind a country of its origins, however its important to update with the times and the people. Individuals should be able to sway values without totally uprooting the good ones.

 @9HGP3FK from Florida  answered…3yrs3Y

People are free to do as they please, so long as it does not violate the freedom of others.

 @9HCTMCW from California  answered…3yrs3Y

Nations are built off culture and traditional values. It should be promoted but ran by society, and not the government. Unless their are large traditional events like thanksgiving, then they should join in that.

 @9HLVXT4 from Virginia  answered…3yrs3Y

I think it should be left to individuals because the government shouldn't have to preserve the citizens traditional values

 @9HNMJ86 from Delaware  answered…3yrs3Y

Is up to the individuals. The people make the culture not to government. The government just mandate people. And the United States is full of different people all of us are immigrants all of us are gonna have a lot of traditions and it’s going to change. Overtime we will not have the same traditions and that’s OK. But our traditional values shouldn’t stay the same because we are evolving from that. Instead we should evolve the traditional values with todays standards

 @9HJ5LH2Democrat from Alabama  answered…3yrs3Y

I believe it should be left to both the individuals and the government. Sure the government can do its part to push it, but its ultimately up to the individuals to carry out the actions necessary to preserve the nation's traditional values.

 @9HGH4G2Women’s Equality from Oregon  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, i believe its incredibly important to carry on traditions and keep in touch with our roots. As well as the fact that the right to practice any kind of relegion, but that should be left to the choice of individuals. If they would like to practice they may, but if they choose not to they don't have to. Neither should be looked down upon or controlled by the government. As long as they don't bring direct harm to others.

 @9HFHLXK from Arkansas  answered…3yrs3Y

I think that it should be up to the people to keep and preserve the ways and traditions of a nation. A nation should change over time as the people within it change as well.

 @9HMRLX9answered…3yrs3Y

I believe that each individual has the right to choose their own values and that the government should not be concerned with that topic.

 @9HHGS23 from Delaware  answered…3yrs3Y

I think we have to let people be because you shouldn't just force people to change because they think differently from you.

 @9HDQQRP from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

I think that it should be up to individuals to preserve traditional values because everyone wants something different, so the government shouldn't have to enforce this on the people as a whole.

 @9HGGV7C from California  answered…3yrs3Y

It should be if these values are generally relevant for a society to function properly.

 @9HGDK53Independent from New York  answered…3yrs3Y

I think the Government should preserve some. But then it's up to the community to preserve the rest of them.

 @9HJVPL7Republican from Pennsylvania  answered…3yrs3Y

I believe both should play a role. We as people are the ones who live with the choices the government makes. Therefore, the people should get somewhat of a say and not have the government be in full control of it.

 @9HHQ7JKIndependent from Nebraska  answered…3yrs3Y

 @9HD48TG from Connecticut  answered…3yrs3Y

Values should be fluid and determined by a nation's citizens. The government should only do so to maintain a sense and understanding of history.

 @9HD9ZPP  from California  answered…3yrs3Y

The people make the nation not the other way around so they should define what the states traditional values are.

 @9HKB8WV answered…3yrs3Y

That should be left to the individual and interpersonal connections to debate and decide for themselves. The government evolves with its populous, not against it.

 @9HHJ8QHanswered…3yrs3Y

I believe that culture and traditional values are entirely a personal matter and if something be it in culture or technology is obsolete it's fine if it's left behind.

 @9HH9DJK from Virginia  answered…3yrs3Y

It is held with the individuals, but the government should also contribute anywhere it can to preserve the traditional values.

 @9HFJ2HN from Minnesota  answered…3yrs3Y

 @9HFB9PC from Ohio  answered…3yrs3Y

It's the duty of the government to preserve a nation's traditional values because the government is the one who makes the laws and rights.

 @9HSPYX3 from Ohio  answered…2yrs2Y

I think the US has a problem with knowing how to identify themselves, personally, I believe theirs only 2 genders, race is a dumb argument for privilege, if you have wealth than you probably worked your *** off to accumulate it, and that college serves only to further debt and indoctrinate young Americans into believing a system and way of life that's worked for hundreds of years is somehow suppressive and broken, and it isn't.

 @9HWFT7C from California  disagreed…2yrs2Y

People have the right to express themselves especially in how they identify, furthering a split in people through ignorant and bigoted remarks is not beneficial to the country.

 @9HCT37HGreen from Utah  answered…3yrs3Y

 @9HK6CVH from Colorado  answered…3yrs3Y

I don't know it depends on those values if they are impeding on others rights to live happy lives than I think something should be done to stop that.

 @9HF3NLX from California  answered…3yrs3Y

I think it should be both because someone should consider preserving traditional national values if they work all together and leave one person the responsibility.

 @9HG7LH9 from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

 @9HDM5W5 from Connecticut  answered…3yrs3Y
