This is a misframing.

The issue is about drawing a CLEAR line when speech turns into intimidation and calls to violence.

Not a subjective "context dependent" dodge.

That was exactly the distinction these university professors were trying to draw:

We won't punish pure political speech (like op-eds saying "Free Palestine" or signs for "intifada").

But we will punish conduct, when it's aimed in an harassing way at specific students.

I would be inclined to agree, however they weren't asked whether "free Palestine" signs or chants were considered harassment.

They were asked specifically whether a "call for genocide" would fall under harassment.

The absolute easiest question to answer "Yes." to.

1. This is not protected speech bc it incites violence.

2. These presidents selectively choose what is free speech on a sliding scale. So they have no standing.
