the opportunity to own a company as a worker, which somewhat exists already. Workers who work hard have the ability to climb ranks of a company.

I believe the driving motivator should be the simple pleasure of making our lives better, you work hard and learn the skills to look back and see how much you've improved, I think we've been blinded by the ideology that all you need to make life better is a decent job to give you decent money that we forget how simply accomplishing a difficult task to drive ourselves forward gives us such a deeply satisfying feeling of achievement that no amount of money can compare to.
