Having been homeless, in jail, and now standing on my own two feet with my own home and a 4 year degree I have a well rounded opinion on life in general I know the work it takes and what’s possible and coming from a “white privileged home” didn’t save me from making mistakes and having to learn from them. I often find some people in power don’t take the time to figure out what the people actually need

All my life I have been surrounded with peers of numerous racial backgrounds and it has given me personal insight as to their struggles and culture and therefore, I have developed empathy and respect for races beyond my own.

Having friends from different backgrounds can challenge bigoted ideas, albeit diversity of friendship isn't enough on its own.
