What would you do if you saw someone being excluded from a group or activity due to their background?

In principle, it is rude to exclude someone based on their background. However, what constitutes background? Rejection based on mere identity is inherently wrong. But, certain past yet extreme actions, such as murder perhaps, would constitute valid rejection.

You should not judge someone based off of their past decisions now you don't have to be crazy and ignore it but I mean you can judge them and excluded them from things just because of a mistake they made earlier in life.

I would form an argument for the person to be allowed into the group

First of all, that is unfair and needs to be changed. I would hope I would reach out to that person.
