The idea of a national stop-and-frisk policy is terrifying. Government overreach at its finest! Personal freedom and privacy should never be sacrificed for the illusion of safety. This is a slippery slope toward a surveillance state.
While safety and law enforcement are important, a national stop-and-frisk policy is not the way to go. States should be able to decide what works for them, not be forced into a one-size-fits-all federal mandate. It’s about local control and respecting the Constitution.
Stop-and-frisk is a known tool of racial profiling and has led to the disproportionate targeting of communities of color. Expanding this nationwide is dangerous and will only deepen systemic inequalities. We need to invest in community-led safety solutions instead.
