Yes

 @BCW52XL from Arizona  agreed…2mos2MO

I still agree with the Yes side because this is actually a really big problem, not something small. Cartels are behind a lot of fentanyl coming into the U.S., and that drug is killing a lot of people—like it’s one of the main causes of death for young adults right now. Even a tiny amount can kill someone, so it’s serious.

 @BBD3RKGRepublican from Arizona  agreed…4mos4MO

Cartels only bring death, drugs, and destruction to an area. The money they make comes from ruining other peoples life and killing and destroying several regions.

 @BB55WTJ from Arizona  disagreed…4mos4MO

designating cartels as terrorist organizations misapplies the definition of terrorism and could lead to ineffective policy responses by diverting resources and diluting the meaning of terrorism.

 @B9HSKY9No Labels from Arizona  disagreed…5mos5MO

Terrorism is causing acts of violence to a large group of people while cartels are doing other violent acts

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...8mos8MO

No

 @BCW52XL from Arizona  disagreed…2mos2MO

I don’t really agree with the No side because cartels already act like terrorists with how violent and controlling they are. Calling them terrorist organizations isn’t just for show—it could actually help law enforcement take them more seriously and go after them harder. Even if there might be some risks, I feel like the danger cartels bring is a bigger problem, so it makes sense to take stronger action instead of doing nothing.

Cartels only bring destruction to a region. They also influence our youth to join and commit several atrocities to man like murder and spread drug use.

Yes, and allow the use of military force on our own borders. They are essentially terrorist groups by virtue of how they operate.

 @BC954LR from Arizona  answered…3mos3MO

for them to be terrorist they have to threaten us but they don't they could be a threat to their own state but they aren't terrorist something diffrent either way they should do something about them.

 @BC2CW4G from Arizona  answered…3mos3MO

No, terrorism is not defined solely by violence. Violence exists as is in society. It should be treated as criminal violence and prosecuted as such.

 @BC23M5WCommunist from Arizona  answered…3mos3MO

It depends on whether those cartels are intentionally committing acts of violence to terrorize the populus because if so then yes but otherwise not.

 @B9YTM9CConstitution  from Arizona  answered…5mos5MO

yes, but also put them in their own category due to the fact that they are not really terrorizing Americans they are just bringing in illegal drugs

 @B927F85 from Arizona  answered…6mos6MO

yes, but the cartel is something the country of Mexico should worry about. maybe there is some stuff we can help in order to decrease number of deaths but not get much involved.

 @B8LKWLQ from Arizona  answered…7mos7MO

 @B8L36HJ from Arizona  answered…7mos7MO

Yes, since they are a threat to not only American citizens but Mexican citizens as well.

I think it should depend on how far the cartel is going in the U.S. standards

 @B8D6J56 from Arizona  answered…7mos7MO

 @B8D4VM2 from Arizona  answered…7mos7MO

It depends if they are acting within the US or in their own country because gangs like the crips or bloods arent considered terrorist groups just gangs.

 @B8CRYQK from Arizona  answered…7mos7MO

 @B8BWCQWDemocrat from Arizona  answered…8mos8MO

Terrorist groups count as people who make threats to the public safety

 @B8BG5DK from Arizona  answered…8mos8MO

No, if we classify cartels as terrorists, it empowers the federal government to take actions I do not support.

 @B85PFGS from Arizona  answered…8mos8MO

depends I guess, if they are performing terrorist actions by the definition of terrorism then yea, but like if they're just like druggies then no, you feel

 @B84MRC5 from Arizona  answered…8mos8MO

 @B84LTS6 from Arizona  answered…8mos8MO

I personally havent seen any action from them from where I live so I cannot give a stance on how much influence they truly have

 @B82TVD9 from Arizona  answered…8mos8MO

No, why should a different label change the severity of the situation?

 @B7Y9G6V from Arizona  answered…8mos8MO

I feel like if they aren't terrorizing people in the United States and they are only doing drug trafficking then they really aren't counted as a terrorist group.

If the U.S has considered that groups or similar groups as a terrorist group, then yes. even more so if that gives us reason, i.e., targeting U.S. civilians

 @BC95Q3H from Arizona  answered…3mos3MO

Only if they are targeting political figures, but still label them a violent and focus on shutting them down

 @B9QZVPMNo Labels from Indiana  answered…5mos5MO

No, that should not be their job, and it would be practically meaningless as it has no impact on the justice code.

 @B99HTD3 from Arizona  answered…5mos5MO

violent cartels should be classified as terrorist because cartels are more dangerous then everyone thinks and kids go missing every day part of cartel.

 @BC7QZ9V from Arizona  answered…3mos3MO

Yes, I think cartels cause a lot of violence and harm, so classifying them as terrorist groups could help take stronger action against them and improve safety.
