90% of the guns used in mass shootings have serial numbers scratched off, meaning they were likely purchased from a dealer and unlikely to originate in the US. Criminals, by definition, engage in criminal activity, laws will not affect them, rather the law would impose more strain on law abiding gun owners.

Actually, if we were to make it more strict on who can get guns, it could actually break the 2nd amendment because you are LIMITING people with these type of illnesses from having a gun even though every citizen has the right to bear arms, so in reality, the law to restrict more gun laws would not be passed due to the 2nd amendment clause.

I agree with this arguement actually. I do believe and stand for the 2nd amendment but when you do background checks and find that someone is clearly unwell mentally and isn't in the right mind to own a firearm and use it safely, maybe we should not allowed the mentally challenged to own firearms for their safety and others. But besides that, just do background checks and let the people use their 2nd amendment right unless reasons occur to not allow them.

Perpetrators of gun violence would have never showed signs of mental issues until after they were found. Mental illness can be very stigmatizing and people with mental disorders can be victims and not perpetrators.

ABSOLUTELY. People think guns should be easier to get because they are for protection, but many people buying guns do not use them for sound reasons. I believe that more powerful guns should not be available for public access, and smaller ones should be more difficult to get and regulated more regularly.

I agree that purchasing a gun should be much more difficult. Perhaps someone should be forced to undergo some sort of psychiatric test before being able to purchase a gun.

 @B85NGG8 from New York  agreed…8mos8MO

Yes, there needs to be a longer process to ensure the mental wellbeing of someone purchasing a firearm. You shouldn't be able to purchase a gun on a moment's notice

 @B857ZYP from New York  agreed…8mos8MO

I agree with this statement because way to many times acts of mass violence could have been prevented but were not because of people who slip through the cracks with gun background checks and at the same time someones mental state can always change and can influence them to do acts of violence so I believe it would be best to just ban them as a whole and only allowed to be used by specially trained individuals the government allows to use.

we should make tighter restrictions on gun owners. I believe that guns are fine to own, but there aren't enough restrictions on them so they are overused and overbought.

 @B857XFHPeace and Freedom from Nebraska  agreed…8mos8MO

I agree with this comment, by doing this you know if the person purchasing will be a good candidate for the gun or a bad one.

 @B8573P5 from Texas  agreed…8mos8MO

I agree with the statement in the sense that mentally ill people shouldn't be allowed to purchase guns.That being said the step up to buying a gun should be increased. People who sell the guns should also go through special training to identify someone who is mentally ill.

 @B855YR9 from New York  agreed…8mos8MO

This is definitely agreeable because current US is a overall guns and richs while no safety guranteed .

 @B856546 from California  agreed…8mos8MO

I agree with this statement because not everyone knows how and when the right time is to use guns and it could harm innocent individuals

 @B87JT7WLibertarian  from Delaware  disagreed…8mos8MO

Most of the time the gun they are using is illegally bought by the armed person or they got it from their parents basement so whoever bought the gun before e'm are to be blamed not the gun store or the gov's policy's. Also there are plenty of checks in place including waiting periods and background checks.
