They earned the money just like everyone else and just because they work harder and smarter does not mean they should be punished.

 @ThatkidLexi4  from Kentucky  disagreed…7mos7MO

They aren't being punished; they're just being asked to give more of their MILLIONS of dollars. If they pay more taxes, which will likely affect them only slightly, then the community they ALSO live in will benefit.

 @B8BZGTZ from Virginia  disagreed…8mos8MO

They should be taxed at the same rate because they are still giving more money than the poor and it allows equality

 @B8DSTBZfrom Virgin Islands  disagreed…7mos7MO

So imagine sacrificing your own sanity, spending so much time alone building something from the ground up right? And when you finally hit that "gamble" people will say: He is nothing without his employees, he does nothing. I'm not against helping the people. But I'm against punishing someone who earned the right to be extraordinary and to earn more than effectively anyone. Because they paid the price.

 @ThatkidLexi4  from Kentucky  disagreed…5mos5MO

Again, it's not a punishment, it's decency. If you think about someone with the wealth of, say, Elon Musk, he has BILLIONS of dollars. Genuinely, everything he needs, no one is asking him to give up what he worked for, but if more of that would go to our communities to help our people, with practically nothing affecting him, the world and our country would be moving forward so much faster.

 @PublicPolicyHaileyLibertarianism from Pennsylvania  disagreed…3mos3MO

You seem to be under the impression that Elon Musk has all that money sitting in his bank account. His net worth is literally tied up in the value he created in those companies. If the government forced him to pay billions more in taxes, he’d have to sell large chunks of Tesla or SpaceX stock, which would actually hurt the employees and people who's retirement accounts are invested in those companies.

 @B8BXBG8 from Georgia  disagreed…8mos8MO

Text Asian is already punitive to the rich in a disincentive to earn money worsening that would only exacerbate the situation we already have

 @B8C3DRBDemocrat from Wisconsin  agreed…7mos7MO

The top 1% can afford to increase taxes. Instead, they're carried by Trump and MAGA and only increase their wealth.

 @B8CFCTS from Maine  agreed…8mos8MO

If we look at Elon musk which has around $400B, it’s genuinely disgusting how greedy he is. The “he worked hard” excuse is so boring and lame. He could end world hunger around the world and could end homelessness in the US and he’s using that same money to get MORE. It’s genuinely disgusting. The rich should be tasked way more and should be made to give away 5-10% of their money yearly.

 @ThatkidLexi4  from Kentucky  agreed…7mos7MO

Exactly, they have so much money that they could be investing in the communities that REALLY need it. The amount of poverty could be greatly increased because some of that money could go to shelters, housing issues, etc. All this money should be circulated, instead of one person having $400 billion, which, yes, they worked for, but it's stupid how that's the only argument. The majority of people work for their money, but they still have to pay taxes. Currently, the taxes on the rich virtually do nothing to their blackhole of a bank account.

 @B8DFLBV from Washington  agreed…7mos7MO

I agree, like I said above, they should 100% be held accountable for their community and the country they live in.

 @B8BZSWK from Illinois  agreed…8mos8MO

yes this would help they could help with the payment people could need like paying off debt it could be used for education orphanages even places that do research on illnesses that needs the funds.

 @B8BZK8F from Arizona  agreed…8mos8MO

I agree, they can live comfortably. A small portion wouldn't harm them. We have billionaires who are spending 2,000-3,000 for an hour on a private jet.

 @B8BWFQQ  from California  agreed…8mos8MO

Yeah, I like that comment! Again, like all the other ones, but hey, the rich should pay more taxes to help their community, that’s for sure.

 @B8GJPLZIndependent  from Texas  agreed…7mos7MO

I agree. Starve the rich, feed the poor. Being a billionaire is insane, a millionaire isn't as crazy. But while Elon Musk is making fancy cars and living in a big house, there are people and children living outside, starving because they got evicted from their house. Mind you, both father and mother were working two jobs and STILL couldn't pay for their house. While, like I said, the rich have no concerns about being evicted at all.

 @B8DHFD6 from Arkansas  agreed…7mos7MO

I agree with this statement. People like Elon Musk with billions of dollars could contribute massively to society with a fraction of their wealth.

 @B8DRPYQ from Nebraska  agreed…7mos7MO

I dont think just giving it away but having heavier taxes, although their money may not be liquid but they still have ownership of the things they own

 @B8CHNHQDemocrat from Virginia  agreed…7mos7MO

I agree with this user. The rich have so much money that even if they lost most of it, they would be richer than a lot of American citizens. If the wealthiest people gave a small percentage of their money to the government, it could benefit local communities, schools, and hospitals. People believe that the rich should keep their money because if it gets taken away, they would have less economic incentive to make quality products. However, it's more like the richer people get, the less incentive to make quality products they have. An example of this is Elon Musk and Tesla. Before 2020,…  Read more

Again, the rich have so much money that they could instead but giving away SOME to help the community. No one is asking them to get rid of a bunch of their money, just enough that if they all give some, it would be enough to make the places we live better

 @B8BZ8GV from New York  agreed…8mos8MO

I do agree, they rich only get richer people are traving, they should be taxed accordingly to even out the weath in america.

 @B8BZ3H2 from Georgia  agreed…8mos8MO

I agree with this statement and it should be a requirement to make America better for all people in America not just the rich

 @B8BWQ6BDemocrat from Arizona  agreed…8mos8MO

Then again I’m not asking for them to put all of there money away I’m just saying that they should donate a little more.

 @B8LXCT4 from Florida  agreed…7mos7MO

Yes, I also agree with this because rich people can donate some money to programs to help people with lower income and still have money to spare.
