Immigrants may work essential jobs and help the economy, but that doesn’t automatically mean they should receive full access to public healthcare or be exempt from deportation. Healthcare systems have limited resources, and it’s unfair to give the same benefits to people who are not legally part of the system as those who are. Paying some taxes doesn’t equal fully contributing to healthcare programs. If economic benefit alone justifies staying, immigration laws lose meaning and encourage more illegal entry. Emergency care already protects public health, so broader benefits go beyond what’s necessary. A better solution would be legal work programs or employer-provided healthcare instead of expanding public benefits.
