A bipartisan bill to extend enhanced Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) subsidies for three years passed the U.S. House with support from both parties, but has stalled in the Senate.
The lapse of these subsidies means millions of Americans are now facing higher health insurance premiums. Senate negotiations have hit roadblocks over issues like abortion and broader health reforms, with no deal expected before the end of January. President Trump has threatened to veto any extension, further complicating the path forward.
The deadlock leaves the future of affordable health coverage for millions in limbo.

Honestly, this just shows how broken our system is when it comes to healthcare. We keep throwing more government subsidies at the problem instead of addressing why health insurance is so expensive in the first place. All these political games only make things worse for regular people, while propping up insurance companies and increasing government control. If we actually had a free market in healthcare, prices would go down and people wouldn’t be stuck waiting for Congress to decide what kind of coverage they can afford.
