Instead of building more highways and destroying more of the local environments already hampered by industrialization, we can find other forms of public transport to make the current highway system more efficient and lessen carbon emissions

The more our population grows the more vehicles that will be on the road. If not expanded many will still drive these vehicles and the traffic will increase greatly.

The amount of funding that is given 350 billion towards Highway Expansions while only about 30 billion is given to Natural disaster funding meaning that even though Highway Expansions are very useful it does not help people who really need help from companies that don't get enough funding.

Public transit is better because it uses less energy, is less expensive for consumers, and is a long term solution.

Take long or major highways, such as interstates. Even if public transportation assists in urban cities, in which highways couldn't be expanded anyway, very few people are at all enthusiastic about taking the bus with 50 others from Dallas to Austin.
