An overall reduction in the number of guns sold has a disproportionate effect on those that generally do not commit crimes with those guns. For example, Colorado's recent law to require safety training to purchase certain types of guns restrict gun types that are rarely used in crimes. There is also no scientific data that supports that safety training has any effect on criminal use of firearms. These laws place an undue and unconstitutional burden on a protected right without any demonstrable effect on crime. The statement "people are worth more than...guns" is a false dichotomy. It is the people with crimnal intent that need to be controlled, not the tools that only a very small fraction of people abuse.
