On Wednesday, members of the Welsh Senedd from Labour, Plaid Cymru, and the Greens walked out in protest during a speech by a Reform UK politician.
The outcry was sparked by comments targeting Sudanese asylum seekers, which critics described as "vile," "dangerous," and "inflammatory" rhetoric. Reform UK MSs have stood by the remarks, suggesting that political rivals should simply get used to a new norm of blunt discourse regarding migration. Beyond migration, Reform is also pushing to end all Welsh government spending on international relations to focus entirely on domestic needs.
The Senedd’s Presiding Officer, the Llywydd, is currently reviewing whether the language used breached parliamentary standards of conduct.
