Law enforcement faces tough decisions on the job, but there has to be a balance between safety and respecting citizens' rights. Supporting the police doesn't mean ignoring the need for better training and transparency.
This is a perfect example of why policing needs more accountability and less unchecked power. Citizens should not have to fear those sworn to protect them. Individual rights must come before state force every time.
We need to prioritize de-escalation and community-based solutions over aggressive policing. Using force first only deepens mistrust and perpetuates cycles of violence. Imagine what we could achieve if resources went toward mental health and social services instead.
