Hurt, the Government should abolish all forms of unions and have all union members receive the death penalty.

 @6L3XVCXProgressive  from Wisconsin  answered…7mos7MO

they help the economy overall but hurt the business that has the union but if the business used the advantage they have to help the common good etc it would be even better generally assuming a perfect world that had all the variables but obviously that doesnt exist and since employees inherently have less power than their bosses they are not equally represented in a business sense without union and all parties have to be represented to have the most optimal outcome overall generally speaking for all parties involved

Help, if the companies profit from tax funded infrastructure it is imperative that workers be allowed to collectively bargain for their wages.

 @9VJHMYM from Wisconsin  answered…1yr1Y

Help, but negotiations should be monitored and mediated by independent government authorities to ensure the best interests of the public are being upheld.

 @9TBZWTK from Wisconsin  answered…1yr1Y

They can help because they have the interest of the people but they can also hurt if it becomes a constant battle.

 @9SRW4DM from Wisconsin  answered…1yr1Y

Help, and need to be further empowered, with direct representation in politics. All anti-union activities should be banned, and any CEOs found to have engaged in anti-union practices subjected to the death penalty.

 @9G9MM4F from Wisconsin  answered…2yrs2Y

They help, in theory, but they are as subject to human nature (as are all other organizations involved in labor disputes) and their powers should be balanced more equitably with those of other stakeholders.

 @9D3VCV7 from Wisconsin  answered…2yrs2Y

Both, where legislation fails to protect, unions provide. they also provide ways for corrupt people to prevent good business practices. It needs more data.

Help, except unions for public employees which allow employees to pick their bosses

 @96PP5JF from Wisconsin  answered…3yrs3Y

It depends on the unions. Most I've seen in America, has hurt more than helped. But they can be useful if done right.

 @93WDCJP from Wisconsin  answered…3yrs3Y

hurt, but people have the right to speak out against companies that are not giving them the rights they deserve

 @92ZSLPS from Wisconsin  answered…3yrs3Y

 @newguynateIndependent from Wisconsin  answered…3yrs3Y

Unions used to have value protecting workers but have since become obsolete, overstepped their limits, obtrusive, and political.

 @92BSHHJ from Wisconsin  answered…3yrs3Y

Depends on the type of business leader and what type of personality they have.

 @8ZJZ74N from Wisconsin  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8YC2MTNSocialist from Wisconsin  answered…4yrs4Y

Unions give workers the representation and rights they deserve, regardless of their economic impact.

 @8Z7H9FC from Wisconsin  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8Z784YPIndependent from Wisconsin  answered…4yrs4Y

Unions both help and hurt the economy; they've always been at risk of corruption, but they also exist to fight corruption; both are true at the same time and any regulations must account for this duality.

Hurt, however I don’t think this is an economic question. They protect corrupt people

 @8PCMY3X from Wisconsin  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8NXDB77 from Wisconsin  answered…5yrs5Y

Hurt, influence in political decisions and a longstanding history of corruption

 @8NSW92H from Wisconsin  answered…5yrs5Y

Labor unions can both help and hurt the economy. When they get too powerful, they can cripple industry and drive operation costs up to the point the industry will close up shop like in the case of the steel mills.

 @8LBP8Y2 from Wisconsin  answered…5yrs5Y

They are a mixture of good and bad. They should only benefit from helping the employees they represent and nothing else.

 @8K4YWVDLibertarian from Wisconsin  answered…5yrs5Y

I believe that they can help in some instances but hurt in others, especially when people are forced to join.

 @8J4XDHD from Wisconsin  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8HX84QX from Wisconsin  answered…5yrs5Y

it depends on the union. If ran correctly they can help all involved. If ran corruptly they can hurt those involved.

Hurt, this system protects the workers who don't want to work while the newer employees who put in the effort get the short end of the stick when it comes to people being laid off. Overall, this harms the company, and thus the economy.

 @8D8R9R6 from Wisconsin  answered…5yrs5Y

Help, and workers shouldn't be penalized for organizing for their rights.

 @8CPPRG2 from Wisconsin  answered…5yrs5Y

Help, in theory, but have recently become corrupt and should have their powers limited, definitely ban their ability to make political donations

 @8C9DZH6 from Wisconsin  answered…5yrs5Y

Unions should exist, but they should not be able to force workers to join. The decision to join should be up to each individual worker.

 @9C94BJ5Communist from Wisconsin  answered…2yrs2Y

Labor unions which have been corrupted by capital are harmful, but true socialist unions are helpful and important

 @9B7BGZK from Wisconsin  answered…3yrs3Y

Ethical and equal unions are great, ones that foster sexist values and capitalism over humane solutions, do not.

 @99G3SFP from Wisconsin  answered…3yrs3Y

Hurt, if unions should be allowed to exist they must be voluntary and local, no national organization and no public unions.

 @98MK32S from Wisconsin  answered…3yrs3Y

I think they are necessary to better all people and make sure they are treated fairly.

 @9842NH2Independent from Wisconsin  answered…3yrs3Y

Helps because it keeps your job locked in but it is hard to get rid of people who don't do their jobs.

Hurt. Historically, unions had done some good but have recently become corrupt and should have their powers limited. I support some private unions but am strongly against public unions.

I feel that many unions are formed by communists, but I believe they should be formed with socialism in mind.

 @8Z4TXWGLibertarian from Wisconsin  answered…4yrs4Y

depends on the people in the union and who is running it, some are good some are not.

 @8CC7S2C from Wisconsin  answered…5yrs5Y

I think it helps and hurts the economy because it helps people who lost their job get a job again but when you own a private business the union can change the business completely.

 @78S5M87 from Wisconsin  answered…5yrs5Y

Get rid of all unions and let everyone be their own advocates and have a level playing field for all people. People speak louder then cooperations.
