The Colorado Definition of Person and Child Initiative would amend the state constitution to define unborn human beings as a "person" or a "child." The bill is centered on a 2012 case in which an unborn 8 month old child was killed when his mother was hit and severely injured by a driver driving under the influence of alcohol. Supporters of the measure argue that the offending driver should have been prosecuted with manslaughter charges. Opponents that the bill would affectively outlaw abortions in the state.
