Everyone has a right to see how algorithms work and how they affect us, so we can understand when we might be influenced or manipulated. By staying aware and exercising our critical thinking skills, we will help in bringing balance to society.

Social Media should be banned because God should be with us when we pray, read the bible, and so on.

I somewhat agree, however, the names and addresses of people shouldn't be released opposed to most data.

Customers should be expected to know at least how to control their algorithm, in a way to support their children.

If the companies show their customers the algorithms, then the customers might trust the companies more and everyone wil be happy

Companies should be more open and show regulators their algorithms to prevent social media from growing too strong, too addictive, and too greedy

 @BBF7RBZ from Washington  agreed…4mos4MO

Social Media is increasingly addictive and manipulative; therefore companies should be open and honest about their algorithms so that people can genuinely choose how they spend their time and how important social media is to them.

You should because the more people you can gather the easier it is for more people to change this and make it come up to a government decision.

Sharing algorithms not only keeps social media companies in line, as customers can reveal much more effectively if the algorithms are being used for illegal purposes, it could also lead to improvements to the algorithm that people in the company might not be able to make.

For example, according to pewresearch.org, a rising 71% of Americans are concerned with how their data is being used by tech companies and social media. I feel that I am not along in this sentiment that companies should be more transparent with their use of consumer data as it seems to be a growing public opinion as of recently

Social media is designed to be addictive. Pharmacies don't let patients take out addictive drugs without a prescription or informing patients of adverse side effects. Thus, social media companies should share algorithms with their customers.

 @B7L6T5R from Georgia  agreed…9mos9MO

Allow people to see things like data and tables and flow charts, and maybe eve code, to promote transparency.

 @B854RTW from North Carolina  agreed…8mos8MO

I don’t necessarily have hard statistics, but I see the full effect of social media everyday. Everything from how we dress, how we talk, to even how we joke around with one another is heavily influenced by social media.

 @B793LY5 from Massachusetts  agreed…9mos9MO

The algorithms are manipulating everyone and encouraging anger and rage. This makes it difficult for people with certain beliefs to hear or see anything outside of their bubble.
