Should police departments be allowed to use military grade equipment?
Yes, but with strict training on how and when to use the equipment
Police should not be able to use military equipment because there are ZERO situations where military grade equipment is needed. Everything that police deal with in their jobs can be handled with much safer equipment. There is no need to spend more tax dollars on something not even necessary. Also, why even leave the opportunity for police to mess up with military equipment? The police don't exactly have the best track record on good use of dangerous equipment. The military equipment also could be used as an intimidation tactic to enforce the governments crack down on speech even further. We already are close to living in a police state, lets not make it worse. Overall, it's a waste of money, and a big risk to citizens for no benefit.
