Increases in minimum wage have historically had only a very small effect on overall prices, and multiple factors beyond wages, like monetary policy and competition, influence inflation. Additionally, a higher minimum wage can boost economic growth by increasing low-wage workers' spending power, which stimulates demand and benefits businesses.

since overall prices and taxes have increased. Over time the living standard has increased. Therefore living in a optimal environment is very difficult.

The value of the dollar does not decrease due to the minimum wage going up; prices continue to rise while the minimum wage stays stagnant. Inflation comes from the greed of corporations recognizing that they can raise the prices on their goods, and people will still buy them: supply and demand. Companies raise prices due to corporate and government greed; the raising of minimum wage is just to keep up with this ever-climbing desire for wealth.

#8 Engaged Counter Argument

The minimum wage might not increase, but companies competing for better workers need to pay them more than the minimum.

The current minimum wage is not even close to what someone would need to make in order to live their lives the way minimum wage was originally intended to be used for.

 @B7ZJQFJ from Virginia  disagreed…8mos8MO

minimum wage should be higher and the prices for items should be lower so that lover income families can buy the necessities to maintain there household afloat and that higher income earners have extra to be put towards future projects or dreams that they one day want to achieve.

this is true but we also do not have a high enough minimum wage for how much we are paying for food and for bills or for gas in our vehicles. it is so hard to live off of $13/hour while paying for your bills, food/water, vehicles and to also be able to have a little bit of fun

Extreme oversimplification, inflation has much more and stronger causes than raising minimum wage. Companies don’t always need to raise prices to cover raised pay raises.

 @B7Z7X6GNo Labels from Delaware  disagreed…8mos8MO

Wouldn't this just be caused by inflation and the prices would go up even further if we raise the minimum wage.

Money is our currency, but we have to remember that it is just paper, and you can't eat paper and we can't live on paper, so we can live without it, what we can't live without is food and shelter. Don't let someone die for not having enough paper.

 @B829PS2 from California  disagreed…8mos8MO

Wage is only a fraction of costs that companies have to worry about. Raised prices will not outpace the amount we raise the minimum wage by.

 @B7ZC83R from California  disagreed…8mos8MO

Allow the government to fund a portion or percentage of the increased minimum wage instead of it coming out of the companies pocket.

 @B7Z7NHWPeace and Freedom from North Carolina  disagreed…8mos8MO

I think that just raising the wage to $9 wont affect prices that much. This is just a stupid excuse to make more poor people that the government can control.

 @B82GMFRDemocrat from Arizona  disagreed…8mos8MO

Companies already selfishly overcharge, they do not need to raise prices when they raise minimum wage

 @B7Z746K from Georgia  disagreed…8mos8MO

Minimum wage would go up for people that may not have a type of pathway and need a job for their families

 @B7Z36RWWomen’s Equality from New York  disagreed…8mos8MO

Minimum wage is good now probably needs to go up more because some people don't make enough to support themselves or their family.

 @B7Z77FH from Wisconsin  disagreed…8mos8MO

I think it's false. Minimum wage rising doesn't directly cause inflation. There are so many other factors and its not fair to blame only minimum wage.
