Mass Casualties: As of October 2025, more than 71,200 people (including over 69,000 Palestinians and nearly 2,000 Israelis) have been reported killed since the conflict escalated in October 2023. In Gaza alone, official reports indicate over 41,000 Palestinians have been killed by direct violence, including over 13,000 children and 7,200 women.
Civilian Toll: A significant proportion of the fatalities are civilians. Studies and human rights groups estimate that anywhere from 61% to 90% of those killed in Gaza are civilians, a rate higher than most other recent global conflicts.
Displacement: Nearly all of Gaza's 2.1 million residents have been forcibly displaced, many multiple times, resulting in a system of forcible transfer that has been described as a potential crime against humanity.
Famine and Health Crisis: Israel's blockade and restrictions on aid have led to a man-made famine, with 100% of the population facing high levels of acute food insecurity and a significant portion facing catastrophic hunger. The healthcare system has largely collapsed, with around 84% of health facilities damaged or destroyed, leading to thousands of additional deaths from disease and lack of care.
