Ending a pregnancy does not automatically mean killing a living human being especially when there is not yet independent life. Women are the only people capable of carrying and giving birth, and they should never be forced to live by the choices, comfort, or beliefs of men or anyone else. No one else is that woman, and no one truly understands the realities of her life, her body, or her circumstances.

Yes, two people may have had intercourse, but if they are not ready emotionally, mentally, physically, or financially then they should not be forced into parenthood. A man should not feel entitle…  Read more

I believe that women DO have the choice since it’s THEIR body. Yes men had to help create it but they don’t have to go through 9 months of pregnancy and then labor and birth which can cause MAJOR health problems and even death in some cases. If a women is raped or involved with incest they DO have the right to abort and it’s wrong to keep them from that

 @B9FVRR3from Guam  disagreed…5mos5MO

Women are the ones carrying the child, not the man so no, he shouldn't have a say. If a women is raped, then why would she carry her rapists baby? She didn't ask for it, even if she had sex, it's always a gamble as birth control and condom's are never 100% effective. Having a child is a huge physical, mental and financial burden. If you can't afford to take care of yourself why would you have a child that you don't even want? It's a clump of cells and won't feel pain till at least 15 weeks while most abortions happen in the 1st trimester so 4 weeks. Even if the women can afford the kid, is in a stable relationship but doesn't want it, that is 100% her choice as it's a huge physical burden on her.

The baby isn't growing in the man's body. Also, it is a clump of cells, not even a human. A man should never have a say in what a woman does with her body. Carrying a baby is physically demanding and giving birth could be a traumatic experience. All the man did was give sperm but he is doing nothing to contribute to the growth and birth of the baby. Doctors don't even allow super late abortions unless it's a lethal risk to the mother.

 @B99JWJG from California  disagreed…5mos5MO

A fetus with no conscience or working organs should not be prioritized over a woman's life and her choices. A clump of cells is essentially a parasite until third trimester in which no woman would get an abortion unless it is an absolute medical emergency.

 @B99M4KC  from Michigan  disagreed…5mos5MO

Saying it's a 50/50 decision and then completely invalidating the woman's choice is just baffling to me. You say I'm not allowed to "kill human life" but how are you to tell me what I can and cannot do? I am a fully developed person, so if my parents decided to kill me right now, that would be pretty brutal. A fetus does not have rights before it turns into a baby as it is not a person yet. Women DO have rights to say, "My body, my choice" because we aren't going to let a man take control of our bodies. I do agree that men shouldn't be silent from…  Read more

Abortion is medical care. Women have to grow the child in their body, have to deal with nine months of creation to possibly die during childbirth. If the woman does not want that child, then they should have the option to not go through with the pregnancy. The conception of a child does not equivalate the life of it. Men should have no say on what a woman's decision is to go through with an abortion. Nobody would want their abuser's features in their child and have to be reminded every day of the torture they had to endure.

 @B9HDNZC  from Texas  disagreed…5mos5MO

It is a woman's right to decide things about her body. A man has the right to make decisions on his body. They do not share a body so they have no right to be able to make decisions that are not about them. A fetus is called a fetus for a reason. It is not a baby; it has not grown at all as it is not alive. It is horrible if a woman is raped and she gets pregnant, so if she doesn't want to face this or be reminded of that horrible situation, she should be allowed to get an abortion as it is her body.

 @B9BH8ML  from Florida  disagreed…5mos5MO

Abortion is a decision made completely by the woman because it is her body and most of the time is the main caregiver and protector of the child. At the point where it is allowed to have an abortion the fetus is jot developed enough to feel pain or emotions so it would not suffer at all. A woman/girl that has been raped or has been a victim of incest has the right to an abortion no matter the circumstance due to the fact that a fetus cannot feel pain at the time of 6-8 weeks or before this period, therefore the woman has every right to an abortion. If a woman/girl gets raped the psychological…  Read more

Although conception involves two people, only the women experience pregnancy, childbirth, and serious medical risks such as complications, long term health effects, and even the risk of death. Early In pregnancy, the embryo is not a fully formed human, and opinions differ when life begins.because pregnancy directly affects a woman body, health, and safety, many believe abortion decisions should be her right.

 @B9JPQG4Women’s Equality from Texas  disagreed…5mos5MO

Those men, include rapist, strangers to the woman, etc. Abortion is pro-choice for the woman who has to suffer for 9 months growing a human being in her uterus as it expands.

 @B9BZMTS from Maine  disagreed…5mos5MO

If you're a guy put yourself in this position, your hanging out with your family and everyone's drinking and your uncle decides he's going to come at you when now around. 8 weeks later you have a baby growing that wasn't your choice and yes adoption is an option but would you really want to walk around growing a fetus that is your uncles. Most parents resent there kids enough you would never want to be in that position.

 @B99N2QTPeace and Freedom from North Carolina  disagreed…5mos5MO

Abortion happens before the "baby" even becomes a fetus, therefore it's not necessarily killing anything. I do think women should only be allowed one abortion in their lifetime.

It is killing something, but it's not killing a person. That's the important distinction. Of course a human embryo is alive, and is of the human species, but it's not a person. It doesn't have consciousness or thoughts or feelings or suffering; it's just living human tissue that could develop into a person at a later date, or not. Abortion is killing, but it's not wrong to kill a human embryo that has no moral value.

 @B9G6HP9 from California  disagreed…5mos5MO

Men should only have a little say if they were by the side of the woman the whole time they were together and had no problems whatsoever. If the baby was a surprise then the woman should have the right to it and not anyone else. The baby isn't technically a person until it is outside of the womb because it cannot survive without the mother as a source. Of course I wouldn't want my parents to kill me NOW, but if I hadn't even been born yet then I wouldn't even have known at all. And it's not all the time that both parties have agreed to engage in intercourse. Rape is a terrible thing to live with and especially after having the rape baby, that is such a huge toll on the mental state of the woman.

 @B99L9KGWomen’s Equality from Florida  disagreed…5mos5MO

Abortion is not a 50/50 decision. Men don’t go through half the things women go through to give birth so it’s extremely unfair to say that men should have an equal say as the woman actually carrying the baby.

 @B9HPQP7 from California  disagreed…5mos5MO

Funny that meni who don't have to carry for nine months, always want to dictate what a women wants to do with their bodies/lives. Rape and incest and also illegal so why must a victim have to endure the consequence?

 @B99T8MD from Tennessee  agreed…5mos5MO

Abortion should never be an option. There is no reason that a life should be taken before it is allowed to see the world and enjoy human interactions.

Human embryos are not people with rights. They have no capacity for consciousness or suffering or experience of any kind. Killing them is "taking a life", but so is removing a tumor. It is not wrong, and is not murder.

 @B99HJ9Q from New York  agreed…5mos5MO

Yes and Amen, maybe get rid of the first statement, because God gets the say, and he said Thou Shall Not Murder.

No, men should have a say, as it is the woman's job to carry and deliver the baby. The father should be able to discuss with the mother whatever he believes, but it should not be the final decision, and the mother should ultimately make the choice.

 @B99ZRBHPeace and Freedom from California  disagreed…5mos5MO

It doesn't matter who the child's father is if they women carrying that baby doesn't want to go through with the pregnancy, she should have the option to have an abortion. Yes if the baby is passed the 6 week deadline I don't believe that anything or the abortion sort should occur but if the women is pregnant for not even a week she should have the option to abort it. The embryo doesn't have feelings eyes or mouth, its is the women choice whether she wants to carry the baby out into the world or not.

 @B9C224DDemocrat from Indiana  disagreed…5mos5MO

you as a cis gendered man do not get pregnant or have a uterus. you don’t know how deadly it is to have a baby sometimes. if you have a wife and she gets assaulted you’re seriously going to make her go thru with that pregnancy and have her rapists dna in her body in that fetus? that’s sick

 @B9G48C2 from Maine  disagreed…5mos5MO

Upon conception, the fetus is a clump of cells; just because it has the potential for life does not equate to a life. While it takes a biological male and female to naturally conceive, that doesn't mean the male gets a say in what the female does with her body. The "man" shouldn't trap the biological female into giving birth to a child they don't want. It's their body, their choice.

A clump of cells is "human life", but that doesn't make it a person, morally or legally. That's the important distinction. Killing human tissue is not murder. Killing a person with consciousness and feelings is murder. Conjoined twins are two people, for instance, even though they formed from a single conception and share a single body, because personhood is determined by brains and consciousness, not living human tissue.

 @B9JKTG6 from South Carolina  agreed…5mos5MO

I agree mostly with this comment. I also agree that men should have a say since they helped created the baby. I am also pro-life but I believe that you should still have the baby no matter what because that could turn into your greatest blessing.

 @B9C5C3S from Arkansas  agreed…5mos5MO

I agree. When a baby is born both parents have to sign for the baby and be the legal guardians of the child so it is BOTH parent's baby. Both parents should have a say, and only after a few weeks babies in the womb have brain matter and body parts form. To Kill the baby and take them out of the womb piece by piece, it is absolutely murder and should not be encouraged.

 @B99JY6G from California  agreed…5mos5MO

I highly agree with the statement because the baby is their own person. Plus the man and the women created the baby so the women definitely can not make choices on her own like that. She is carrying a whole life in herself, she cannot control that life.

 @B9CLTPQRepublican from Oregon  agreed…5mos5MO

Your baby should not be aborted unless it threatens the mother's health or the child's life. Additionally, rape victims should be allowed to have an abortion since the circumstance was imposed upon them.

 @B99JWT4  from California  agreed…5mos5MO

I totally agree, If people are not wanting to have a planned pregnancy then wear protection and not risk of having a child, that's someone life you have taken away by you not wanting to wear protection. When you choose to have a child then its okay, but if your not then don't risk it by having unsafe intercourse. Don't be silly and wrap your willy- is what my grandpa says, he also says if you have a kid then don't get rid of it that not your life, you don't play God he did it for a reason.

 @B99HFCLLibertarian from Colorado  agreed…5mos5MO

I don't agree with the point about a rapist having an opinion. they should never be able to EVER be around that woman again! or that child. Also, if the woman that will have to give birth to the baby is a young girl who was raped i think that abortion should be an option and if it will cause serious health conditions or even death. I believe that life begin with a heartbeat, and I also believe that people should not have sex until they are sure that they can support a child because it could happen. and they should use protection and plan B. i HATE when people are like " oh I didn't expect to get pregnant" well you shouldn't have had sex then!! just because you think it's a mistake doesn't mean that you can kill a baby. DEAL WITH IT!!

 @B9JDMMP from Ohio  disagreed…5mos5MO

If we labeled the consequences better through ads or schooling and had free or cheapened plan B for young adults/teenagers maybe we wouldn’t have the issue of abortion and wouldn’t also ruin the lives of teenagers or young adults by banning abortion and keeping plan B prices high.

 @B9H3NDR from California  disagreed…5mos5MO

It isn't a 50/50, and men shouldn't have much input unless asked by the mother on what to do. The women carry the baby for 9 months, go through the pains of pregnancy, and are the ones that have to give birth to the baby. Along with that, oftentimes, the woman is often left by the man during those 9 months, since many men lack accountability and responsibility for their actions. The only time that a baby shouldn't be killed while the woman is still pregnant is within the last trimester, and even then, if the baby is going to live in pain, or it is going to result in the death of the mother, she should have the sole right to decide on what happens to that baby.

 @omg123Greenfrom New York  commented…5mos5MO

You are not allowed to kill human life that is illegal and it's murder. I am pro life and every time there is baby that is formed it deserves to live.

Yes, murder is illegal and wrong, and killing babies is murder, but no, embryos are not babies and "killing human life" is not necessarily murder.

Removing a tumor "kills human life", but a tumor is not a person and does not have a right to life. Removing a human embryo likewise does not harm anyone. It is not a person. It is not a child. It has no rights, no consciousness, no ability to suffer or to remember or experience anything. It is just living human tissue with the potential to develop into a person, or multiple people, or part of a person, but it has not developing into a person yet, so there is nothing immoral about killing it.

 @B9CNTH7 from Nevada  disagreed…5mos5MO

Abortions never happen in the later trimesters of pregnancy. They happen within the first 24 weeks, when the baby isn’t consciences. You cannot be pro-life and go hunting then, you cannot be pro-death penalty, and you cannot be okay with deaths around gun violence according to your own belief.
