I don't think they should give everything because they earned what they got, but they should spare some of their money so that others can have it.

I think more rich people should be charitable, they have a choice but they choose not too. I think that says something about people like that.

 @B9G5QRV from Kentucky  agreed…5mos5MO

I agree with the statement. The rich have more than enough to keep well above a comfortable lifestyle. So long as the rich continue to get tax breaks the middle class will continue shrinking and the gap between upper and lower class will continue to grow.

I do agree with this comment at the rich have plenty to share and should be willing to within a borderline amount, they shouldn't be forced to give everything away.

I agree with the author the rich should be taxed at a much higher rate, often time the rich find loopholes and use tax right offs to avoid paying taxes, however they are the people who can afford to pay taxes the most and a larger percentage of their incomes and spending should be taxed and used to help the government.

I agree with this comment because the rich do not deserve to get richer, they have more than enough money to survive while millions of Americans are struggling financially and with their family. Every person deserves a chance in life and if they are not allowed to get that chance then that feels very unconstitutional.

I do agree. The rich have more than enough to be able to put it back into the nation, but they don't. People who are suffering need support, but without the rich provided the support, then they won't get it.

I must say you did a really good job acknowledging that there is a large amount of poor people who are starving and or don't have a house. It is important to acknowledge this because the poor does not have it easy like the rich people do. The poor people should also be able to have shelter, food, water, and a decent lifestyle to ensure safety and satisfaction.

The rich are not to blame for the poor living on the streets; rather, the government is to blame, as it does nothing to help the poor these days.

This is due to the people making poor financial decisions, although the economy is not as strong as it was in the 19th century the economy is livable and in order to afford the luxuries in life you need to think outside the box. In order to have above average things you need to become above average.

 @B9G6VHM  from Missouri  disagreed…5mos5MO

the main counter is that taxing rich people a ton might actually hurt the economy because they're the ones who invest money in new jobs and stuff. Plus, if taxes get too high, rich people just move their companies to other places or countries anyway, so the government ends up with less money overall for programs. Honestly, a lot of people just think the government wastes the money it gets, and that private charities are way better at helping the homeless and hungry than some huge government agency. It just comes down to whether you think it's fair to take someone's hard-earned money just because they have "more than enough" or whatever.

Everyone should have taxes proportionate to their income and general wealth. Equality in taxes is far different from equity, since the rich can easily handle tax season as opposed to the lower-middle class having to scrape by during tax season. Equity gives everybody what they should have, instead of giving everybody the exact same treatment.

 @B9GNLZ3 from California  agreed…5mos5MO

Force the rich to pay taxes, and the taxes will be used to send aid for homeless people and lower-class people who have disabilities as well.

 @B9G5LBZ from Missouri  agreed…5mos5MO

The gap between the working class and the elite rich has become the most vile thing any American could witness. We are a population of poor people fighting eachother for more resources while the elites breathe a sigh of relief that we haven't noticed its their fault yet.
