Should the government raise taxes on the rich?
The gap between the rich and the poor is undoubtedly huge, there are people within the U.S that are…
the main counter is that taxing rich people a ton might actually hurt the economy because they're the ones who invest money in new jobs and stuff. Plus, if taxes get too high, rich people just move their companies to other places or countries anyway, so the government ends up with less money overall for programs. Honestly, a lot of people just think the government wastes the money it gets, and that private charities are way better at helping the homeless and hungry than some huge government agency. It just comes down to whether you think it's fair to take someone's hard-earned money just because they have "more than enough" or whatever.
