I think that demilitarizing the police can allow crime to spike as criminals will feel less threatened and less cautious about committing crimes. I do not believe the police are highly prejudiced, though there are cases I do not believe the majority of them are.

We should hold them accountable but not erase them, who will stop the criminals? this will bring back the survival of the fittest to the extreme

I think police should focus more on protecting people and less on using military style equipment. It's important for communities to feel safe and not scared. At the same time, police still need the right tools to handle dangerous situation, so there should be a balance.

Demilitarizing the police is an important step toward building safer, more trusting communities. Military-grade equipment can create a sense of fear and tension between the police and the public, rather than a sense of safety. Children shouldn’t have to grow up feeling threatened by law enforcement presence, especially in schools where they should feel secure. We need to focus on community policing, descalation tactics, and better training to handle conflict without the need for heavy weaponry. Plus, reducing police militarization could help address concerns about racial bias and the disproportionate impact of police actions on marginalized communities
