Healthcare is a necessity not a commodity and it should not be a privatized market of middlemen who take government subsidies and charge the general public for services additionally. Supporting and expanding Medicaid is closer towards the goal of getting away from the model of healthcare, but it doesn't support those who are not eligible, which is why changing systems would be better.

It would require changing the entire system of taxing within America, as the strategies of Reagan have completely warped the way people view taxes and what they truly are supposed to do. By taxing the rich more instead of relying on trickle down economics, while letting go on the middle / lower class, we could afford a quality single payer healthcare system for everyone which could make our country even greater for all of its citizens, from the homeless to the rich.

A single payer healthcare system would provide healthcare to every American. This could prevent millions of people from dying preventable deaths. Furthermore, your taxes don't pay for someone else's coverage unless you are very rich. The only difference is whether or not you choose to use it. I would also support an opt out option for a single payer healthcare system.
