Abortion should be legal because the government should not be allowed to regulate the choices of an individual in respect to their body. If a consenting legal adult wishes to have a medical procedure performed on them, that is their right to go through with, and not the concern of any governing body.

You can argue infinite statistics and facts to argue either side, but it all comes down to a personal opinion. I believe women should not be forced to carry potential life to term. I agree with certain arguments from both sides of this debate, but ultimately this is what I think.

 @BB4CSFH  from Utah  agreed…4mos4MO

Statistically when people are able, and allowed to choose when they have children it allows for parents to be better, it allows for happier families and happier childhoods. It allows people to feel more secure in their government, if the people actively feel like you're taking somwthing away from them, that they feel benefits them, they will revolt. They will have something to say.

Simple, my body, my choice, type of situation. Forcing a woman to go through a procedure where it causes physical, mental, and hormonal changes are inhumane and unjust. If you do not know the changes a woman's body goes through, you should not have a say in this situation. 1: Physical: Common changes are: The growing belly and breasts sections of a woman, increased fatigue and nausea, frequent urination (Reduced batter space OR general control), skin changes like darkening areolas + stretch marks, fluid retention causing swollen ankles/feet, backaches from weight/ligament stretch, and…  Read more

Bringing life into this world should be a choice. Full stop. If someone is not ready to raise a whole entire human life, they shouldn't need to. It's unfair to the child. It's unfair to the parent. Life is too fragile to be brought into this world without serious thought, consideration, and readiness, and there are too many situations in which people become pregnant without these having been done to say abortion should not be legalized.

 @B86HY8D  from Colorado  agreed…7mos7MO

Abortion should purely be a woman’s choice and basic human right. And shouldn’t be interfered with by the government or other peoples opinion because it can go for young girls who were raped and without the ability to get an abortion could possibly be fatal. Women shouldn’t be punished for having an abortion or from what I’ve seen called a murderer. If you take away the right to go through with an abortion you are taking away a basic human right, a their right to healthcare and safety. If you’re gonna stop a woman from getting an abortion and being arrested for committing a crime you are supporting the men who rape, leave and harm the women

It's not them who are making a baby and carrying it in their body for 9 months. it's not them who have to go through the extremely painful birth process. it's not them who have the social pressure to quit their careers to care for the child. it's not them whose body will forever be changed after giving birth. it's not them who go through morning sickness, high blood pressure, infections, and all the other downsides of being pregnant. I believe in pro choice. There are a multitude of reasons one could have to get an abortion. Including, lack of funding to take care of the child, being incredibly young and not being able to take care of a child, and the person’s own life. Abortion should be a REQUIRED right for people to have.

 @9GMWPQD  from California  agreed…3yrs3Y

people should be able to do whatever they want with their body not have it decided by anyone else that is their own choice. Some people also get into situations that are not their fault like rape and they shouldn't be forced to keep that baby if they dont want to that wasn't their fault and wouldn't have the proper mental health in that moment either to raise a child, people should just respect peoples choices cause at the end of the day the person getting the abortion knows whats best for them and that child.

 @BB4CY54  from Michigan  agreed…4mos4MO

Evidence shows abortion bans have measurable health impacts: after Roe V Wade was overturned, anestimated 64,000+ pregnancies from rape occurred in states with total bans, many without exceptions. Studies also link abortion restrictions to higher maternal and infant mortality rates, and medical data show that carrying a pregnancy to term is significantly riskier than having a legal abortion. These findings suggest that access to abortion is closely tied to health, safety, and equity—not just personal preference.

 @9GJ4NR2  from Idaho  agreed…3yrs3Y

Anybody that has a uterus should be able to get an abortion. It does not matter whether or not it was due to rape or incest, if it was accidental, etc. People who have a uterus should have the rights to make decisions with their own bodies; they should be allowed bodily autonomy.
- When abortions take place, the fetus is not fully developed. It does not have life or a conscience.
- Banning abortions does not get rid of abortions all together-- only the safe ones. Many people that have a uterus will turn to back-alley abortions, or even attempting it at home, which has an incredibly high risk of fatality. Fatality rates for people assigned female at birth will skyrocket.
- There should be better access to birth control products, as well as sex education.

  @AWSQSHI23Independent  from Tennessee  agreed…5mos5MO

Most pro-life people argue that they're "protecting children" and that abortion is murdering a baby. But from a scientific standpoint, life does not begin at conception. Fertilization simply causes the cells to multiply and form an embryo. Even when that embryo forms a heart and has a heartbeat, there is no brain activity. With no brain activity, legally and scientifically, the embryo is not alive. It is nothing but a clump of cells forming in the womb, essentially just a complex tumor. Additionally, the Earth is already bowing under the pressure from how many humans there are,…  Read more

there could be health related issues to having a baby no one want to put their baby through hell just because they can't take care of it properly. NO baby should live without a mother, and no one should have to die against their will to give birth to a baby who might not have a provider or caretaker.

 @B7446XJ  from Mississippi  agreed…9mos9MO

It's someone's own autonomy. It's not fair to force any person to have something grow inside of them, use their nutrients, pain them, and permanently change their biology when they didn't consent to it. The hospital bills are extremely expensive, too. It's a gross violation of someone's body and possibly even traumatic to people who are very young, were raped, or are tokophobic.

What you want to do with your body (as long as it doesn't include death of oneself) has nothing to do with anyone else but you and your doctor. You should always have a choice. Unless you want teens so desperate that they take unmedicated drugs trying to abort themselves or paying for some back alley abortion. Cause that's what you'll get.

 @9GRPN5Y  from Texas  agreed…3yrs3Y

I think that every woman gets to decide what to do with their body it is wrong to feel the need to control women and people choices and way of life. I also think that no one should be able to control us or to think that they can control that as a women/girl I believe that I should be able to do with m body without anyone telling me otherwise. ( as long as it is not harming themselves.)

 @BCNNSCP  from Texas  agreed…2mos2MO

men shouldn't pick something for women's bodies, at the End of the day it's the woman's choice, and I'm not even biased, I'm a man. But for the love of Christ it's not some old fart's decision in Congress, let the ladies get what they want.

 @9GSRZN7  from Ohio  agreed…3yrs3Y

I believe in pro choice. You don’t know what that person is going through. They could’ve been raped, groomed and plenty of other things. You just don’t know, some people still say if your old enough to do it your old enough to have a kid because you knew what the risks were but you don’t know the case at all. What if it was incest? Rape? Groomed? Drugged? We never know no men that say we’re killing kids, imagine it was their daughter that went through that? It would be a different case because it’s happening to someone they love.

 @9GHMXC6Women’s Equality  from Wisconsin  agreed…3yrs3Y

No matter HOW someone with a uterus got pregnant, whether it was an accident or they were raped or any other situation, it is that persons choice as it is their body. old men in congress should NOT have any say at all in our bodys as they would never and will never truly get it.

 @BC9D87W  from North Carolina  agreed…3mos3MO

Abortion should remain legal because it is a fundamental healthcare decision between a patient and their doctor, not the government. Everyone deserves the freedom to make personal medical choices about their own body, especially in complex situations involving health, finances, or family circumstances. Restricting abortion access disproportionately harms low-income individuals and limits equal opportunity. Protecting reproductive rights ensures people can make responsible decisions about their futures while maintaining personal liberty and dignity.

 @BC9GPPT  from Illinois  agreed…3mos3MO

Abortion should always remain legal as it is healthcare. Abortion is a decision between a patient and their doctor. The government should not be involved in healthcare decisions they do not have the education to properly give advice. Everyone, regardless of gender, race, or ethincity, should be able to make their own healthcare decisions especially in complex or life-threatening decisions. Restricting access to reproductive rights does not stop abortions, but makes them unsafe, and harms low-income individuals.

 @9GJK82K  from Colorado  agreed…3yrs3Y

Abortion should be the choice of the mother who has the child, not the government. If the mother's health is affected by the child, or if the lady was raped or is not ready or in a good place to have a child she should have the right to choose if she wants to have the child removed or not.

 @B9XXW93  from New York  agreed…4mos4MO

Women should have full autonomy over their bodies and decisions and it is a violation of human rights to stop someone from aborting a child if it negatively interferes with their health, economic position, mental health, or safety.

 @9FBML7K  from Ohio  agreed…3yrs3Y

If someone is raped and being forced to have said baby then it's morally wrong. Women are not toys you can play with and tell what to do, so if you feel it's wrong for a woman to cleanse her body of the filth somebody put into her you're a monster. Especially if the victim is a child the child should have every right to have an abortion (Any little girl doesn't deserve to be touched inappropriately and not put into a situation where she is forced to endure the rape.)

 @BC2RZGP  from California  agreed…3mos3MO

I believe abortion should remain legal because pregnancy directly affects a woman’s body, health, and future. The government should not force someone to continue a pregnancy they are not ready for or cannot safely carry. Situations like rape, health risks, or serious fetal conditions make this decision deeply personal and complicated. When abortion is legal and accessible, it allows women to make that decision with medical guidance and protects their health. History has also shown that banning abortion does not stop it from happening—it only pushes people toward unsafe methods. Because of this, decisions about pregnancy should ultimately remain between a woman and her doctor, not the government.

 @9GK4LM5Peace and Freedom  from Illinois  agreed…3yrs3Y

I am pro-choice because women should have a right to their bodies, you never know the position they were put into, to get pregnant. Just think your sister was raped and fell pregnant with the rapist's child, it wasn't her choice to have sex let alone to get pregnant, but if she gives birth she's gonna look at that child her whole life and the night she was raped is gonna replay in her head each and every night and the suffering is never gonna end. So let me know would you rather have women suffer for a choice they didn't make, or would you help make sure women are safe and have full control over their bodies?

 @9GXZ6LB  from Kentucky  agreed…3yrs3Y

I believe it should be up to the individual. You can't assume someone's situation, or health, or anything else. It is that woman's body and any choice made should be made by her and her alone. Its no one's business. We don't tell men or dogs or cats who can be fixed or when to do it so how should anyone but that woman have a say in her choice for her situation. Period, especially the government!!!

 @Anna  from California  agreed…3yrs3Y

Pro-choice shouldn't be an argument for any person to make, abortion is anyone's choice. At the end of the day, changing a body, giving birth, and living with a big responsibility is only the pregnant woman's choice and responsibility; it is her life and body. If a baby is made through unfortunate circumstances a woman has to live with, nobody can tell women to do otherwise.

 @9GJT3JQ  from Texas  agreed…3yrs3Y

Women have the right to do whatever they wish to do with their bodies, espeacially if it pertains to conceiving a child because it's not always the easiest. In most cases, it's due to them being raped/sexually harrassed, therefore, they should never get the blame for what happened and still end up dealing with a pregnancy they did not plan for. Ever female that this happens to will always be forgiven. So overall, this really shouldn't be an issue, especially if a man is against it. Period

 @9GR62PGPeace and Freedom  from Texas  agreed…3yrs3Y

No one else's opinion matters regarding abortion other than the person who is able to have the abortion.

 @B8ZS34PDemocrat  from Virginia  agreed…6mos6MO

At conception, there is no life there, just a bunch of cells, and getting an abortion early on doesn't affect any human life whatsoever.

 @BB6C2YK  from Wisconsin  agreed…4mos4MO

There are many health issues that could require the mother to abort the baby to live. Forced pregnancy is also a form of psychological torture. A woman or person with a uterus should not be forced to carry a baby from someone who raped or assaulted them. Transgender men might also be uncomfortable with this. Why should the government have any say in our bodies? Even if it wasn't a pregnancy from rape or assault the female should still be able to decide whether she wants it or not. It might be unplanned. The mother might not be ready for a baby, giving the child a very bad life. People…  Read more

 @B8CYGLBDemocrat  from Massachusetts  agreed…7mos7MO

Any mother who is trying to get an abortion is not ready to be a mother. Whether it is a case of rape or anything else, it is the mothers body and not anyone's else, especially not a rich white man. In the case of teen pregnancies, the mother has a high likely hood of dying, as well as a fully grown baby that is being birthed. But aborting a child in a state were they are not human is in no way murder. The child would likely live an awful life if they are put into the hands of parents who are not ready to be parents. Pro-life is risking the lives of thousands of women for a fetus that isn't even living and may not even survive.

 @BDGBLD8  from Florida  agreed…1mo1MO

The way to reduce abortion is through education, resources and support for parents. Food and rent stability, access to free and safe birth control, and sex education have all proven to be effective ways to reduce abortions. Abortion bans only increase the financial burden on the state while simultaneously taking bodily autonomy away from pregnant people.

 @BDSJ4SR  from California  agreed…3wks3W

Leave the Bible out of this. If you seriously still argue that women should not be in control of their body if the Lord had no say in it whatsoever…then you’re most likely a man.

 @9FCMC4D  from New York  agreed…3yrs3Y

It will all lead to more long term physical, emotional and mental trauma the mother will have to deal with for the rest of her life, and that's if she even survives the pregnancy and birth as death rates for those situations are quite high - between the attempted home abortions and suicides, it's not worth it!!
Statistics show this can not only lead to death, and trauma but lifelong depression, withdrawal from family/friends and even addiction as they no longer know how to cope with life.

 @BB7SBDNDemocrat  from Florida  agreed…4mos4MO

Anyone who does not have a uterus or the ability to get pregnant should not have a vote onto whether a woman may get a abortion or not. Therefore I believe you should be allowed, at any time, a abortion whether it be rape, accidental pregnancy, or even just backing out of parenthood. However this does not mean a woman should get many a year for it can harm her body, I also believe if she gets many that there should be a well mandated conversation needed for her to know what can happen if it continues. Another point to view for pro-lifers is what if the mother cannot physically give birth without her or both of them perishing? That would be a shame, she could've just gotten a abortion and it would've been so much better for her.

 @B6JLHS7  from California  agreed…10mos10MO

About 1% of people get pregnant due to rape and .5% of people end up pregnant due to incest but there is data showing that many don't report incest because they are assumed, fear, or embaressed. This goes to show that many people face the trauma of carrying a child in many states because they don't have another option and many people can afford to being another human being to the world. The government already had so much control why should they have control over the women's body too it is a solid basic right to have control over our bodies.

 @BBTLQ98  from California  agreed…3mos3MO

Abortion is a moral choice, especially for the woman carrying, but it is a personal moral choice. The government should have no hand in such matters outside of ensuring options are available. If you want to protect children, provide programs and assistance for mothers or improve the current foster care system.

 @B7SZVDD  from Pennsylvania  agreed…8mos8MO

A fetus is a parasite; it is not living until a few months in the womb if I am correct. You wouldn't let a 15-year-old adopt a child but if she was raped, would she be forced to go into labor? For all people who are Pro-life, what about all the moms that die in labor? And if you're all about saving lives, focus on police brutality, school shootings and mental health because suicide happens more than people like to think. "What if the baby grows up to cure cancer" The baby could also grow up to be a mass killer so think about that argument for a second. Not to mention that cancer has been cured but they refuse to do anything, so cancer hospitals don't go out of business. I am a minor yet I'm able to understand this better than many adults which is disappointing.

 @BBHZL2R from Maine  agreed…4mos4MO

Morally there is no difference between a reproductive cell and a fetus, the only problem is logistically. The "child" misses the blessing that is life anyway. It's hypocritical to allow ejaculation and visectomys and not abortions. No matter how developed the fetus is, it still doesn't have a conscience. It's no difference from, say duckhunting. It's morraly comparable

 @BBWTFFB  from Virginia  agreed…3mos3MO

While there are mixed feelings about Abortion, I believe it should still be up to the women, as it is their bodies and should be their choice if the fetus should be removed or not. the fetus, while possibly having a heartbeat and life, they do not have a conscious mind to make a choice whether it should live or not. it does not have the freedom to choose, as it has not been born yet into the world. the fetus is still inside the womb, inside the woman, therefore it should still be her choice. Think about the women you'd be forcing to give birth to a baby they might not even want, whether it was accidental, or they were a victim to rape and or SA. it could be a child or even a woman. It is still a violation of a woman's body to give birth to her abusers child. regardless of who the offender or person is.

 @BDRZ2QRDemocrat  from Oregon  agreed…3wks3W

Almost 300,000 woman a year die due to pregnancy that could have been prevented with an abortion, is it worth woman dying over when the right moment will come for a lady to have that child? Is it worth her dying over when she can produce a child is she wanted to later down the line when the child will be properly taken care of?

 @9GK6RRR  from Maryland  agreed…3yrs3Y

Considering the medical complications that can come from pregnancy for both children and adults should be enough to put this debate to rest. To be clear, in my last sentence I meant pregnant children and pregnant adults. Children and Adults should not be forced to carry what is essentially a parasite until it leaves their body, full (or partial, imaginary child could be premature) term, if they do not want to. It is perfectly okay if you do not want to have an abortion, YOU don't have to, but you should not feel entitled to the right to take that choice from someone who isn't you.…  Read more

Pro-choice doesn't necessarily mean pro-abortion. It means supporting the life of the family and providing parents with at least some time to consider and deliberate the act of bringing children into the world. At this point anyway, the fetus has no conscience. All life is valuable, but the life of the parents are indeed valued more than the life of an unborn, no-conscience fetus. Regardless, abortion should be a choice for a small time window since conception, and banned during the later trimesters of pregnancy since at that point, adults should be able to make a decision.

 @BDRDT9L  from Indiana  agreed…3wks3W

It is a woman's body and her choice, especially in cases of rape. I also do not view a fetus as a fully formed human life until much later in the pregnancy, around 6 months.

 @BBWD7KFSocialist  from Illinois  agreed…3mos3MO

The stances about birth defects and quality of life are absolutely true, but a lot of my view is about the mother as well. She should be able to make that choice. She can have as many abortions and spend as much of her money as she wants because it has zero effect on any living breathing important person other than her. If she doesn't want to put her body through pregnancy and birth (adoption is not the solution to everything), and she cannot care for the baby or the baby will have a poor quality of life, or if it harms the mother herself, then she should be able to have an abortion. Simple.

 @BCXL6YS  from North Carolina  agreed…2mos2MO

There are women that go through many things in life and we never know how they got pregnant or if they are in a stable enough situation to have a child. You also have to think about health issues and things like teen pregnancies. If a female feels that they aren't ready for a child or they don't want to carry to term then they should be able to make that choice. If a child is brought into the world in a situation that wasn't meant to be then there could possibly be more cases of where children aren't taken care of or they go through a lot. The unborn child and the Mothers future need to be thought about and whether it will be a beneficial situation.

 @BDJ4P9P  from Nebraska  agreed…1mo1MO

you shouldn't force a child to grow up either in the foster system or with abusive parents because they weren't able to get an abortion. people are human with sexual urges, you shouldn't blame the woman for getting pregnant doing an act that almost every human enjoys, then forcing her to take care of a huge responsibility to "punish" her, or because it's "her fault". don't force someone who doesn't want kids to have a kid, and don't make that child's fate being sent into a foster system where they'll likely experience a lot of…  Read more

Abortion should be legal because the government should not be allowed to regulate the choices of an individual in respect to their body.  @9GGRRV8Socialist from Maryland  agreed…3yrs3Y

Pro-choice is the idea that people should have the choice of if they should abort their child or go through with giving birth. I'd like to mention that women have the ability to give birth at the average earliest age of 12. The government doesn't even believe that people 12 years of age are able to vote, so for them not to have the ability to have their own body if something were to happen, seems inhuman for the child to have to go through birth at a young age. Making a child have to care for a child should not be right in any way. Some scientists believe that at the age of 12, our brains aren't even fully developed enough to make rational decisions. To have a 12-year-old little girl make a life-altering decision to bring a life into this world, shouldn't follow through, at least, until legal age.

 @9H26VWY  from Utah  agreed…3yrs3Y

After pregnancy, your body permanently changes, heavier periods, bigger hips. Your abdominal muscles separate to make room for a kid, sometimes so severe that is requires surgery. And having a child is a life altering decision, even if the child is given up for adoption. And if the child was conceived against the mother's will, than that could create immense hate towards the child, and add to the already traumatic experience. Even the U.N. Human rights council has recognized the negative affects of denied abortion.

 @97JH7N3 from Florida  agreed…4yrs4Y

Every person should be able to choose whether or not to have a child and still be granted basic comforts in being able to enjoy an intimate relationship with someone they love without having to worry about having a child. Children born into families that are not ready for them live terrible lives and are generally regarded as mistakes. This breaks children and increases suicide rates among the parents and the kids. Anyone arguing that people should not get a choice need to try living that and tell me otherwise only then because my life is terrible because my mother couldn't get an abortion when she had me at the age of 15. There is no argument because its a difference between a kid living a horrible life and not really living a life, and a chance for adults to really live their life. Prove me wrong. Oh wait you can't.

 @BDSKP2DLibertarian  from Ohio  agreed…3wks3W

Allow the woman to abort the pregnancy at will; however, at the cost level of the method chosen, minimal damage to the fetus must be ensured. Note this could result in a live birth (abortion ends a pregnancy, not a fetus). Third parties may choose to subsidize less damaging abortion methods, as long as the mother's (not just financial) cost is not increased.

 @B6NSRB8Independent  from Georgia  agreed…10mos10MO

All situations are circumstantial and there are situations where the best choice for the child and mother is to not have the child as that is an irreversible long term decision vs a irreversible short term decision

When it comes to pro-choice woman can have the decision on what they can and cant do to there body, and its supporting there choices. its also recognizing that every individual has the right to make a choice on what they do to themselves, the circumstances are respecting a persons autonomy. pro-choice advocates belief that it is safe and legal to have an abortion for woman's reproductive health and rights. its about trusting woman to make the best decision for themselves.

“Doctors and public health experts have repeatedly warned that pregnancy in very young girls carries higher risks of complications, premature birth, and long-term health impacts.”
“The CDC reports that millions of women in the United States have experienced pregnancy resulting from rape or sexual coercion, and many suffered injuries, sexually transmitted infections, and fear for their safety.”

 @9FDGWKR from Illinois  agreed…3yrs3Y

Pro-choice is a better option because it makes things a lot easier for women and if you don't like the idea of abortions, then you don't get one. Others personal choices shouldn't bother you. Also victims of rape or such have a way out of this difficult situation. Also people with health issues have a choice to do this instead of struggling with having the baby which can maybe lead to death. Also just anyone who isn't ready for a baby like if they don't have money, aren't ready to be a parent, or just can't handle raising a kid. They have a way out of the situation and they have less to worry about.

1. Bodily Autonomy and Consent
In no other context is a person legally required to use their body to keep someone else alive. In the United States, even a deceased person cannot have their organs harvested without prior consent. Yet, some states force rape or incest survivors to carry pregnancies to term, regardless of age or mental health status. This violates the fundamental right to bodily autonomy.

According to a 1996 study published in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, approximately 5 percent of rapes result in pregnancy. With an estimated 430,000 rapes occurring annually…  Read more

Forcing someone to carry that baby causes the constant reminder of them being violated. In the case of rape or incest victims, abortion is a form of healthcare which can provide an opportunity for the person to heal from their trauma.

 @B5V7Z8SIndependent  from Pennsylvania  agreed…12mos12MO

If people are Pro-life, they are entitled to that opinion. But that opinion should ring true when it comes to other aspects of life outside of abortion. If we are going to force all pregnant women to go through with the birth of the baby, we should also put way more funding into foster care and orphanage systems. We should create services and protections for those women who were forced to unwillingly put their bodies through the trauma of pregnancy. Let them have paid leave from work, provide them with insured healthcare services for giving birth and baby check-ups, even free doctor’s…  Read more

Women should have the right to do whatever they want with their own bodies. Their choices are for their well-being and do not affect you. Not everyone follows religious doctrine and shouldn't be regulated by such doctrines.

 @9FQ3Y5G  from Texas  agreed…3yrs3Y

Abortion shouldn't necessary be banished, instead it should lead to their decision and not to a governments decision. Due to them having a life is also making their own choices.

 @9FBFCYN from New York  agreed…3yrs3Y

Pro-choice doesn’t mean everyone should get Abortion. It means that the patient has the option to Abort the child. Not everyone wants to or is ready to be a parent. Our adoption system isn’t great and pre-natal care costs a lot of money. For those who say that people who don’t have a child would want to adopt a child, there is plenty of kids already in the adoption system.

 @9FBKT44 from New Jersey  agreed…3yrs3Y

I am pro choice because women should be able to decide what they get to do with their bodies, especially those victims of rape and incest. These children will end up in foster care or not taken care of properly. It can also be counterproductive trying to be pro life if forcing these women into birth can cost them their and their child's life.

 @9FBH2R8 from Georgia  agreed…3yrs3Y

It is their body, and it is not my job to control what they want to do with it, or better yet why should I care about what she does with her body.

 @9GR3V8S from Texas  agreed…3yrs3Y

It is important for women to have a choice because it is their body, I believe either way abortions are going to happen and I would rather there be safe options.

 @9GXPHNXWomen’s Equality from Illinois  agreed…3yrs3Y

Abortion is about allowing women the right to make choices about when they want to have children in relation to their age, financial stability & relationship stability. It is the not the place of government to legislate against woman's choices. Raising a child is not an easy task & requires social & emotional commitment coupled with financial resources. As such if a person feels they are not ready for a child, it means the pregnancy is unwanted & resultant allowing a fetus to grow into a child is worse than abortion since the resultant child will grow in a non conducive & destructive environment without the love, care & stability that a child needs.

 @9FRHMNBPeace and Freedom from Missouri  agreed…3yrs3Y

I chose pro-choice because it should be the choice of the women carrying the child, and going through child-birth. especially consiting of rape / incest situations - or teen pregnancies etc. anything like that should be the choice of the person that has to follow through with it.

 @9FBP9WZ from Minnesota  agreed…3yrs3Y

It's your body and your choice. If you put yourself in the expecting mothers shoes you would want to choose for yourself too.

 @9GTVRL4 from Texas  agreed…3yrs3Y

1- medical decisions should be made by the individual and not regulated by the govt
2- arguments of pro-life are religiously based and we have a separation of church and state
3- if you won’t let me get rid of the kid, then have better adoption/foster care programs. Or at least welfare so I can care for the child
4- force the fathers to actually pay

 @9F9VH36Veteran from California  agreed…3yrs3Y

It should be between a woman, her doctor, and god. Nobody else. It is not my place to say what somebody else can do with their own body.

 @9GX8Y7Jagreed…3yrs3Y

It should be the choice of the person to get an abortion. I'm not saying you have to get an abortion. but there are many scenarios where it is the only option and they should have access to a safe abortion because people will still get abortions just not in a safe manner.

  @VulcanMan6  from Kansas  agreed…4yrs4Y

I don't care how far along the pregnancy is, or even if it was a grown adult person attached to your body, you would STILL have every right to sever that connection, even if doing so would kill the other person, because that's what it means to have bodily autonomy. Your right to your own body, and the decisions over what procedures you will or will not have, or who can or cannot use your body, is one of the single most important rights you can have.

 @9GYLW4V from Michigan  agreed…3yrs3Y

Most women who get abortions get them because they can't afford to have a child, aren't healthy enough to carry a child to term, or were the victim to rape or incest. So who are you to force a women to have a child she can't take care of or have a child that is going to be a walking reminder of the horrible things that happened to her. And foster care sucks so women don't want to send their kids there either.

 @9GPCDSM from New York  agreed…3yrs3Y

my body. my choice. whether the sexual encounter was consensual or not, we should be allowed the right to a safe and legal abortion. some people don't have the money to raise a child, or the mental stability, or any stability--and in such a case, bringing life into this world isn't a "justice". You're just prolonging the inevitable--that child will die, or grow up wanting to. it should be your choice--whether the case is you got drugged, you got raped, you got sexually abused, or even if you consented to sex and it just so happened to go this way--you should be able to choose to keep it or abort it.

 @9FBSMV6 from Nevada  agreed…3yrs3Y

Pro-choice gives freedom to women. It keeps children out of fostercare and prevents a child from having a struggling life after being born into a family that wasn't ready for it.

 @9FBLVLS from Oregon  agreed…3yrs3Y

I think it should be a women choice because a baby is a big deal, i know they were the ones to make the mistake but it should not mean they have to suffer for the rest of there unless they want it and that they can afford it .

 @9F9PM3Z from Florida  agreed…3yrs3Y

If life started in the womb, why is the baby 0 years old when it comes out. Shouldn't already be nine months old. The adoption system is not good enough to support all the people that will be forced to have kids. Will you pay for the babies food and medical bills? No? How is the baby supposed to live if the mother is a 10 year old girl who was raped by her uncle? Exactly.

 @9F9VCJM from New Jersey  agreed…3yrs3Y

the truama from rape can lead to depression, PTSD, and other m,ental illnesses and the choice to choose what they want done to their body is a obbligation the government owes to them.

 @9GX6WBQLibertarian from Ohio  agreed…3yrs3Y

Pro Choice doesnt mean you would get an abortion, it means you understand other people may be in a different situation than you, and it may be theri only option. And with some pregnancy complications, the treatment is an abortion becasue keeping the child would result in the mother dying.

 @9FVBQ6Z from Colorado  agreed…3yrs3Y

These people are people you don't even know. You don't know their background, story, current living situation, or anything. If someone who was a rape victim got pregnant and was not in the right place for a baby, what would happen to it. You would bring this poor thing in the world, put it in the system, and then what? They grow up with mental health issues, health issues, and unhappy.

 @9F9MC99 from Illinois  agreed…3yrs3Y

There are multiple scenarios in which women are not able to support a child, or did not desire one in the first place. for these scenarios is it important to provide them with a choice.

 @9FSPBFYWomen’s Equality from Utah  agreed…3yrs3Y

68% of children in foster care get sexually abused by their guardians 83% get physically abused. if they are under the age of 16 and have children that has a 50% of killing both the mother and child.

 @9FBDRK6 from South Carolina  agreed…3yrs3Y

the mother has the choice of what she wants to do but they should always talk to their partner about how it would affect their life and if it was a serious problem then they can adopt

 Removed by authoragreed…3yrs3Y

It is a woman's choice if she wants a baby or not. If her life is in danger, was raped or just isn't in the place to have a kid at the moment, she should be able to have an abortion.

 @9FBQHJR from Colorado  agreed…3yrs3Y

I think there could be a lot of reasons someone ends up pregnant and I think they should have the choice to abolish it if they feel the need.

 @9F9QGB3 from New York  agreed…3yrs3Y

One in 9 girls and 1 in 20 boys under the age of 18 experience sexual abuse or assault.
82% of all victims under 18 are female.
Females ages 16-19 are 4 times more likely than the general population to be victims of rape, attempted rape, or sexual assault.

 @9F9JYKF from Illinois  agreed…3yrs3Y

It is unfair for you not to have a choice especially if something traumatic happened to you. How is anyone going to tell you that you have to have the baby, and wake up every morning with the reminder of what happened?

 @9FNXNRWGreen from Nevada  agreed…3yrs3Y

Do you want a baby to live a life either in the messed up foster system or in a horrible living situation? People aren't getting abortions as a regular form of birth control, if they are that doesn't mean the people who need it should be denied it.

 @9GTQR36 from Missouri  agreed…3yrs3Y

“Illegality forces the poorest women to use the most desperate practices,” when a women is not free to get an abortion, they resort to dangerous methods which can result in them losing their life. Being able to get safe medical procedures should be a right to all women.
