No, they control who gets elected and who doesn’t, but if they become a problem then I say replace them.

 @B65JDZMIndependent from Kansas  answered…2mos2MO

There really isn’t a right answer to this. I think that the electoral college is important because as a country it is inclusive to every us state and their needs. A resident living in rural Wyoming has different needs and ideas versus someone who lives in urban California or New York. I see why the need for a popular vote would work since it would factor in everyone’s opinion but the problem is due to the lack of representation of smaller states which would lead to presidential campaigns only focusing on larger campaigns. The pro argument for a popular vote nationwide is that then…  Read more

No but reforming the electoral college by the full legal measure of representation that qualifies a state to have full cooperation on how elections are held

 @9Y9KMJ9 from Kansas  answered…11mos11MO

I think the Electoral College should be reworked so that states are no longer a winner-take-all with the votes.

 @9WV68NP from Kansas  answered…12mos12MO

We need a Christian dictator to impose Christian laws on America. no DEGENERACY, and no non christian degenerate can serve in the government

 @9VNXMNQ from Kansas  answered…12mos12MO

No but there needs to be deep audits of who becomes electoral college members and ensure their not lobbied or paid by outside interests

 @9T96QF3 from Kansas  answered…1yr1Y

No it should not be abolished, it should go to a higher position when someone wins the states but the other has more total votes, the higher position could be people of the supreme court of justice.

 @9SHR4BXConstitution from Kansas  answered…1yr1Y

Every county should get 1 Electoral vote and it must go to the candidate that win the general election in that county

 @9R45ZH9 from Kansas  answered…1yr1Y

no i do not believe it should be abolished completely it should be kept as a contingency but only in the event of a dead even split, if that could ever happen

 @9PXH8VK from Kansas  answered…1yr1Y

No, not at this point. I need to see a study by multiple think tanks, to find out if there is a consensus for the best republic.

 @9NZM6WV from Kansas  answered…1yr1Y

No but there should be a voter competency test to make sure they understand where the candidates stand on the issues.

 @9LF8GBYDemocrat from Kansas  answered…1yr1Y

Use Electoral College structure and primaries to nominate presidential candidates, but decide the presidency on a nationwide popular vote.

 @9KXDDF6 from Kansas  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, and I propose a hybrid between a regional campaign strategy, a runoff vote, and a same day national vote for primaries and elections.

 @9FHZN33 from Kansas  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9DYZ9T3 from Kansas  answered…2yrs2Y

The voting system should ensure that the citizens' votes are what elect the President and Vice President. Having to rely on somebody else, who may decide to not vote the way they said they would, is a major concern, even if they are punished eventually.

 @8QBMBLH from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but switch to a representative democracy (popular vote) system and make voting mandatory

 @9CK7945 from Kansas  answered…2yrs2Y

No because according to an attorney who handles constitutional issues, every form of democratic government in the world has a system that is a tie breaker or gridlock and the electoral college is that system in the states. It should be adjusted yes but im not seeing that answer

 @9CHRTS5 from Kansas  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9B9K3PN from Kansas  answered…2yrs2Y

 @96SS7YC from Kansas  answered…3yrs3Y

No, but institute a rank choice voting system in each state. And mandate that each elector (given a district they represent) must vote for the 1st placed candidate in the district of the state they represent.

 @95RGFHG from Kansas  answered…3yrs3Y

 @949D2FG from Kansas  answered…3yrs3Y

Again I’m not educated enough on this to form a opinion I don’t even know what the electoral college is

 @93R3SDR from Kansas  answered…3yrs3Y

No, this should return to the original system put into place by the Constitution & the founding fathers.

  @7Mxg1 from Kansas  answered…3yrs3Y

Electoral college would make better sense if it's by county since elections to Senators, Governors & others of that criteria exist.

 @92SMW8QDemocrat from Kansas  answered…3yrs3Y

 @92FZJDT from Kansas  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8XZKPTW from Kansas  answered…4yrs4Y

No, but make the election of politicians more accurate when compared with the population.

 @8XWDCTQ from Kansas  answered…4yrs4Y

It needs to be evaluated thoroughly and perhaps slightly reformed. Our day to day world view is far different than when this country was founded & the electoral college. There needs to be some reform in the electoral college to ensure there can be no manipulation or unfair strategies for any specific candidate or supporter thereof, especially the super wealthy.

 @8XVJ3CDRepublican from Kansas  answered…4yrs4Y

I believe we should have republican and liberal people so it won’t be rigged like the last election

 @8XR9LXR from Kansas  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, every vote should count as an individual vote and the winner decided by most votes throughout USA not by points per state.

 @8XGJYW4 from Kansas  answered…4yrs4Y

I think it should. The people need to have an outright vote, and whoever wins wins.

 @8X9VPL7Republican from Kansas  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes and no, no until a tie than do that as a tie breaker they can vote on their own time not as school kids.

 @8X8SN8PWorking Family from Kansas  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8X7MMW4 from Kansas  answered…4yrs4Y

I think it is okay, but in states like California I think their electoral college votes could definitely be split up because there are so many people

 @8X7LYXY from Kansas  answered…4yrs4Y

No. I think it just needs to be updated in a way that gives people in more populated states more of a say. I think the balance of votes determined by population should be updated and they should fix the winner take all system.

 @8X78KLL from Kansas  answered…4yrs4Y

I know what the electoral college is but I am unable to voice my opinion on the matter without hearing the opinions of others to understand both sides and devise a actual valid answer upon the subject at hand

 @8WWHKZ5 from Kansas  answered…4yrs4Y

What if the person with bad intentions get the most votes? That would be bad.

 @8VQ3NZD from Kansas  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VLQHDN from Kansas  answered…4yrs4Y

No, but all states should receive an equal number of electoral votes. Each state is meant to be equal. The House of Representatives allows for more members based off of population.

 @8VDM9XK from Kansas  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VD2K5BDemocrat from Kansas  answered…4yrs4Y

I think that it is okay, but sometimes you can see where smaller states are coming from.

 @8SQJBBC from Kansas  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8SCT335 from Kansas  answered…4yrs4Y

No, but at least try and find a way to stop people from skewing the votes to be in their favor so there are more people voting for one guy, but the groupings so strange that the other guy wins

 @8S3DS3V from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

The whole system is bugged. It was created by people who were not qualified enough to run the country.

 @8RXB2TQ from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8RGZCVHRepublican from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8RD45JW from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

No, There is no other system that involves both democratic and republic representation better than the electoral college along with popular vote for congress

it should be based 1 person 1 vote for who they vote for and that how they should do it

 @8PKG5PN from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8NQWYKQ from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

No, but if the election is tied the winner should be the person with the popular vote. The Supreme Court should not decide

 @8NHT7KD from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

Votes Should be taken and counted manually do away with any way the votes can be tainted and count every vote.

 @8NHMF9NLibertarian from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, instead of the electoral college, each state equals one vote. Majority of the states citizens votes is what the state votes for.

 @8NDQL5V from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

Each congressional district is represented in the electoral college so make that district a win or lose and so 1 district = 1 electoral vote.

 @8MW3CS6 from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

What is the purpose of it? We vote independently, count our votes, and let our voice honestly be heard

 @8MKG896 from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

I think people should still count your vote like for the place not just the most populated place only

 @8MHX6YC from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8MH6Z57 from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

No, but get different citizens inthe college then just the rich and powerful. It should be ranked and equal on the scale.

 @8M5TBMLPatriotic Peoples from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

The electoral college needs to be replaced with the congressional districts each repesse ring one electoral vote

 @8LBHVDC from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8L5VLSH from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

No but they should be made public officials so citizens know who are voting for them

 @8KZNXFM from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

No, but abolish the 17th amendment so that the proper checks-and-balances intended by the founders and designed in the Constitution works and the sovereignty of the State is actually represented in the Senate for its "advise and consent" role.

 @8KQZCKKLibertarian from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but make sure the population as a whole is accounted for and not just larger cities.

 @8KCVG84 from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8JHG658 from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8HGJRX8 from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

No, but there should be reform, There should be a better gauge and balance of voting. Popular vote should also weigh in on potus and vpotus.

 @8GNX46V from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8G8WYN5 from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

No, but it should be reformed so that way American territories have a voice.

 @8G22QHR from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8FXFZVQRepublican from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

No because the electoral college shows that the president would be useful to more specific areas of the country than the loser, even if they had more popular votes, because popular votes are more scattered and less decisive of which president the country needs. Popular vote would also be more unfair to small town, suburban voters.
