Though it'll cost to create those lanes, it'll make the roads safer, many people with autonomous vehicles do not pay much attention while the car is self driving, which is where most self driving crashes happen

Establishing special lanes for autonomous vehicles can increase more focus and support for these vehicles. Some statistics from the University of Michigan states that Teslas have driven 3B mi in Autopilot since 2014, reporting 85% less accidents than the U.S. human driver average, with eco-driving, intersection connectivity, and faster highways, energy use and GHG emissions can reduce by 9%, 94% of crashes are due to human error. AVs have the potential to eliminate human error and decrease deaths, compared to the average human driver, Waymo had 88% fewer serious injury crashes and 93% fewer involving pedestrians. AVs crash reduction potential could save $190B/yr.
