Training should be required but requiring people to renew a license hinders the effort of average citizens to defend themselves, as long as they know how to correctly use it nothing else should be required as it wouldn't have an effect on gun crime.

Guns are our way to check the government in every fascist and communist countries they always come for the guns first democracy is with every life that is taken do to gun violence or war.

 @B7HWBVN from Oklahoma  agreed…9mos9MO

I do agree other than "a gun has never killed anyone" thats simply not true. of course a person has to pull the trigger but since guns are so easy to obtain the people with ill intensions have no problem carrying out those intentions. saying guns don't kill people is just not true it takes two factors for someone to dye from a gun, the weapon its self which is doing the job and the person is making that decision.

 @B7H49FT from Kentucky  agreed…9mos9MO

The cause of death never says "person" it says "gun wound". But yes, if this country is going to choose to keep guns, there needs to be stricter and tighter precautions taken before just handing over a literal weapon. Something must be done about the almost 50 thousand people who die because of a gun. So either take the guns away, or find a better way to control them.

I agree guns themselves aren’t the problem, it’s how people use them, so having a licensing system makes sense to ensure responsible ownership

 @B7H23GRIndependent from South Carolina  agreed…9mos9MO

It’s true that a gun itself isn’t what causes harm—it's the person using it. Your point about criminals not being deterred by laws aligns with what many have observed about enforcement challenges. I also agree that responsible gun ownership should come with clear accountability measures, like proper training and background checks, which is why a licensing system with renewals sounds like a practical middle ground. It’s encouraging to see thoughtful ideas like yours that focus on safety without undermining rights.

Citizens shouldn't have FULLY AUTOMATIC RIFLES, there's no situation of self defense that warrants that.

 @B7GZDBMProgressive from Indiana  agreed…9mos9MO

Cars have never killed anyone, only the person behind the wheel. The difference is we are taking steps to make cars safer. Guns are a different story. PRO GUN CONTROL!!

 @B7GYRQZ from New York  agreed…9mos9MO

I agree with this 100%, people need to be ran through a stricter process to be able to just carry or have a weapon such as a gun.

 @B7GYDPH from California  agreed…9mos9MO

This is right but wrong at the same time because the gun is the tool, and if you prevent people from having that tool, then no one will die because gun violence contributes to a lot of deaths, so limiting the guns to the police will eliminate anyone needing a gun to defend themselves.

 @B7GY74Z from Texas  agreed…9mos9MO

I agree. Guns doesn't kill, but the one holding the gun is. People are our downfall we kill each other everyday, but I disagree with the "Criminals will still be criminals" people change everyday, so we should give Ex-criminals a chance to re-gain their life (depending on the crime). I agree people should be licensed to have a gun.

 @B7GY4WS from Indiana  agreed…9mos9MO

I agree. The selling of arms should not be prohibited, rather the background of the person using it should be accounted for.

 @B7GY2CL from South Carolina  agreed…9mos9MO

I agree with this comment because I feel that in a lot of cases, once people get their gun, they are able to use it however they like with no reprocatutions.

 @B7GXN4H from Missouri  agreed…9mos9MO

I do agree with this to an exctent. Because i also think there should be more restrictions on guns and people who are trying to buy them, but i do agree as well.

 @B7GWVXZ from California  agreed…9mos9MO

Low gun control is the reason why there's so many school shootings, someone could have gun training and still kill people. YOu can't detect red flags easily.as said, it's impossible. People who own guns normally have interesting beliefs and I'll understand you want to protect yourself but guns make us violent.

 @B7GWVCFIndependent  from Texas  agreed…9mos9MO

Just because a gun itself hasn't been the one killing people which actually doesn't sound right because people die from a gun, WE should uphold more restrictions due to the fact guns fall into the wrong hands and we have people dropping dead by the minute. And how will you know if someone doesn't have ill intentions with the guns? we need the highest restrictions if you want guns

 @B7GWCXT from Texas  agreed…9mos9MO

I agree that the focus should be on responsible gun ownership rather than banning guns. Licensing and safety training can help prevent accidents while respecting the rights of law-abiding citizens.

 @B7GVX9V from Washington  agreed…9mos9MO

How do we know if that person who owns the gun will choose to pull the trigger or not. By lowering the gun manufacturing, the amount of people pulling a trigger will lower with more efficiency.
