How people were treated for racial reasons should be talked about from a historical perspective, but in a modern sense we should get away from doing things or looking at people wit race being a factor. Just like MLK said, people should be judged by the content of there character, not the color of their skin.

I completely agree because it makes it even worse when everyone is constantly yapping about how everything and it's mother is racist when in fact it's not even that bad.

Rather than shoving it in a kid's face, just let the racism fade away with time. Don't let it into newer generations by saying "this race is inferior to another" or "this race owes others because of the past". Just let the issue fade since the country has more pressing matters.

the schools stopping their side of the conversation wont stop parents from teaching their children their own racial biases and racist opinions

Its an undeniable part of history and not teaching it ignores that history meaning we might fall back into it and people wont understand why we have certain laws in affect

I agree because if we stop talking about it, it could maybe disappear, but not everything disappears.

That same thing could be said about any other disagreement the world currently has, and it not a realistic way of solving the disputes of racism, because not everyone will abide by it.

I believe that it's important to know that even though the color of one's skin should not matter, that doesn't stop people from believing it does, and therefore, we should teach our children that it is unacceptable for them to discriminate against people of color. And by doing so, we also acknowledge the hateful and cruel experiences people have been put through for decades. Just by not cussing the color of one's skin doesn't mean all prejudice and racism will be wiped off the face of the Earth.

Completely 'erasing' the fact that racism is a thing doesn't really help in the way you think. Social media is a thing, history is a thing, people will find out either way, people can still teach it. It's a big thing to make sure the things that colored people went through aren't forgotten, and we learn from what has happened, especially since there are people still being affected to this day.

I feel like maybe the schools really only focus on the slavery of the African-Americans when we should open it up and talk about how other races were slaves also as in the Jews, Asians and natives . But we also need to bring it perspective that the reason why we are leading all of this history is so it doesn’t repeat itself , people should be self aware and also know what there family members went through and also how the world has gained some progress

This might be true in a couple hundred years, but issues concerning race still exist and effect people to this day. Information about how it does is invaluable to young adults' education.

 @B8TRCHLProgressive from Missouri  disagreed…7mos7MO

Not every student is taught the same things at home. Ignoring racial differences, especially throughout history, doesn’t allow for anyone to understand how wrong discrimination can be. Ignoring hurts, it does not heal

 @B8TQ7HV  from California  disagreed…7mos7MO

While the pursuit of ending racism by abandoning notions of race is noble, it ignores the societally ingrained reality and pervasiveness of systemic racism. Not engaging in CRT education will not make racism “cease to exist” because, put simply, racists will still exist. Therefore, the only way to create more harmonious interracial relationships in society is to acknowledge racism’s prevalence in societal structures and consider how to mitigate its consequences (which acknowledges that race-based distinctions, even if problematic, are existent).

 @B8TSN4W from Florida  agreed…7mos7MO

Morgan Freeman said it best. CRT claims that white people are inherently evil, which is, by definition, racism.
