Older students have the cognitive maturity to understand complex social issues
Research proves that structured, age-appropriate lessons on racism can reduce bias and improve empathy, but introducing these topics too early risks confusion, superficial understanding, or emotional overwhelm. Around middle school and high school is when those differences are really noticed. In lower grades you don't see much but once you're older, you've learned and experience with the world, and your cognitive functions are more developed that's what leads us to seeing and understanding those differences.
