Public transportation is slow, ineffective, congests roadways, requires specialized infastructure, and raises taxes. highway expansion encourages traveling further for work, boosts the economy, and are a lot more conveinient.

I agree because the less roads we have the more traffic there is so maybe we should expand the highways to prevent traffic overall.

Highway expansions will only lead to even more people driving cars, under the principles of induced demand. If we expand public transport and passenger rail systems (which are far less likely to congest), people will get to their places faster.

Not everyone would have to travel by car if we made a public transportation system. It would decrease traffic and connect the community.

Expanding the highway only creates more traffic. Expanding public transportation creates less demand for cars therefore alleviating the stress on the already existing highways.

By expanding highways we encourage more people to use cars, which is a never ending downward spiral if you think it through. The whole argument just boils down to circular reasoning: expanding highways because people use cars instead of public transit, which leads to more people using cars, which leads to expanding more highways, which leads to, and so on. Public transit is way more sustainable not only ecologically, but also economically and socially, IF it is funded and developed enough. There are many people who can not drive, for example because of old age or because they are disabled,…  Read more

Highway expansions provide no appreciable traffic decrease, while an increased reliance on public transportation unclogs roads already in use.

I believe we should especially in bigger cities due to high rates of people commuting back and forth to work

 @BD2T7ZLDemocrat from Michigan  disagreed…2mos2MO

NO, we should ban it because many people don't have cars and can't afford to if we fund public transportation people more people will be able go where they need to go without ever needing to buy cars. Not banning highways helps no one but rich car corporations.
