Voting is a unique right that is outlined in the Constitution as given to legal citizens. If a foreigner lives within the United States for a long period of time, then I would encourage them to pursue citizenship, not only so that they can vote, but also so that they can receive the other rights and freedoms of citizenship. Pursuing citizenship demonstrates a seriousness in the system that is equivocal to the right to vote.
Foreigners currently residing in the United States should not have the right to vote, because they may have the interests of their home country over those of the United States.

Foreigners should only be allowed to vote if they went through the process of becoming a US citizen.

The act of becoming a citizen doesn't magically transform you into a new person. You still maintain your culture, heritage, beliefs, traditions, ect. Foreigners will more times then not vote to increase immigration even if the native population of a nation says otherwise. Everyone is tribal and, the blank slate doesn't exist.

I believe if you are from another country, but you currently reside in the U.S and are a legal citizen or have a status to live here, you should be able to vote. Everything our government does affects how we live our day-to-day lives. So if it affects you, you should be able to vote instead of depending on others to come through for you.

They shouldn't be able to vote because in the Constitution, it clearly states that only citizens 18 years old and older are allowed to vote. Think about it like if you were to let a stranger in your home and allow them to live with you while not really being sure how to get them out in a way that works for everyone, and on top of this they get the right to vote on family things such trips and get personal information as if they were born into your family. IT makes completely no sense.

Allowing foreigners to vote undermines the very foundation of representative democracy — the consent of the governed. Voting is not just a civic act; it’s a sovereign right tied to citizenship, allegiance, and accountability. Citizens pledge loyalty to the United States, pay taxes that fund our government, and can be drafted to defend it. Foreign residents, while often contributing members of society, do not bear those same legal and constitutional obligations.
Even at the local level, extending the vote to non-citizens creates confusion about loyalty and jurisdiction. Policies mad… Read more
