Popular Disagreements

Voting is a unique right that is outlined in the Constitution as given to legal citizens. If a foreigner lives within the United States for a long period of time, then I would encourage them to pursue citizenship, not only so that they can vote, but also so that they can receive the other rights and freedoms of citizenship. Pursuing citizenship demonstrates a seriousness in the system that is equivocal to the right to vote.

 @BDL35KDDemocrat  from New York  disagreed…2wks2W

Foreigners currently residing in the United States should not have the right to vote, because they may have the interests of their home country over those of the United States.

 @B9JXGP9Democrat  from Washington  disagreed…5mos5MO

Foreigners should only be allowed to vote if they went through the process of becoming a US citizen.

 @BBF97RVDemocrat  from Texas  disagreed…3mos3MO

I believe if you are from another country, but you currently reside in the U.S and are a legal citizen or have a status to live here, you should be able to vote. Everything our government does affects how we live our day-to-day lives. So if it affects you, you should be able to vote instead of depending on others to come through for you.

 @B87ZRVTDemocrat from California  disagreed…7mos7MO

Usually Foreigners aren't too educated on the US and its current issues and they might vote for someone that they aren't fully educated on.

 @B979SDBDemocrat from Washington  disagreed…5mos5MO

Non-citizens being able to vote decreases election security and makes it easier for foreign entities to manipulate democratic processes.

 @B8HDKMMDemocrat from California  disagreed…7mos7MO

In the instance that a Foreigner is paying taxes and participating in society in a positive manner, they should be granted the right to vote.

 @B9HWY58Democrat from Minnesota  disagreed…5mos5MO

Foreigners are not considered citizens; therefore, they should not have the same privileges as American citizens.

 @BDLJSVDDemocrat from Michigan  disagreed…2wks2W

Only citizens of the United States are given the right to vote. If an immigrant became a citizen then they would have the right to vote.

 @B8SNB9MDemocrat from Illinois  disagreed…6mos6MO

They shouldn't be able to vote because in the Constitution, it clearly states that only citizens 18 years old and older are allowed to vote. Think about it like if you were to let a stranger in your home and allow them to live with you while not really being sure how to get them out in a way that works for everyone, and on top of this they get the right to vote on family things such trips and get personal information as if they were born into your family. IT makes completely no sense.

 @BD98QBBDemocrat from California  disagreed…4wks4W

Foreigners should not have a say in who we elect because for all we know they might be trying to sabotage our country.

 @BCFJDRTDemocrat from Kentucky  disagreed…2mos2MO

In every country in the world rights are limited to citizens. There is no reason why a non-citizen should be able to vote in an American election.

 @B8HKDWNDemocrat from California  disagreed…7mos7MO

Bro, it says on the constitution all Americans have the right to vote aka citizens, these are illegals tell me why they would vote.

 @B98469HDemocrat from Texas  disagreed…5mos5MO

Only citizens should be allowed to vote for their leaders, they can vote for leaders in the countries they are citizens of

 @BB6HQWBDemocrat  from Minnesota  disagreed…3mos3MO

No origin here, no investment in our democracy, zero taxes and a lack of understanding in our civic responsibilities.

  @RickyDana  from Missouri  disagreed…7mos7MO

Allowing foreigners to vote undermines the very foundation of representative democracy — the consent of the governed. Voting is not just a civic act; it’s a sovereign right tied to citizenship, allegiance, and accountability. Citizens pledge loyalty to the United States, pay taxes that fund our government, and can be drafted to defend it. Foreign residents, while often contributing members of society, do not bear those same legal and constitutional obligations.

Even at the local level, extending the vote to non-citizens creates confusion about loyalty and jurisdiction. Policies mad…  Read more

Foreigners do not have enough info or time in the country to truly know what needs to be changed or stay the same.

 @BB2NFXYDemocrat from Maryland  disagreed…4mos4MO

They aren't citizens, they don't pay taxes so they shouldn't be able to give their input on this country.

 @BB64HH2Democrat from Florida  disagreed…3mos3MO

They are not citizens, they have the ability to go back to their country their from if **** hits the fan in the U.S meanwhile were stuck here

 @B9P2D4XDemocrat from Pennsylvania  disagreed…4mos4MO

Foreigners shouldn't be able to have a choice in picking who runs the country they came into after us Americans.

 @B8ZFKSLDemocrat from Kentucky  disagreed…6mos6MO

Foreigners that are not US citizens might vote with their home country's interests as opposed to the interests of US citizens

 @B9FKLJJDemocrat from Virginia  disagreed…5mos5MO

Foreigners should not have the right to vir because they don't know how the government works and all of the requirements

 @BDTG7L3Democrat  from California  disagreed…22hrs22H

If a foreigner has not went through the process of becoming a U.S. citizen why should they be allowed to decide on who governs the U.S.
