Democrats demand hearings on $500 million UAE investment in Trump family crypto firm
On Tuesday, five Senate Democrats formally requested hearings into a reported $500 million investment from the UAE into the Trump family's crypto venture.
The investment allegedly gave an entity linked to Abu Dhabi royalty a 49% stake in World Liberty Financial shortly before the administration reversed several trade restrictions. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Richard Blumenthal argue the deal created a conflict of interest regarding recent U.S. approvals for AI chip exports and arms sales to the Emirates. The White House denied any connection between the President’s business ties and federal policy, dismissing the probe as a partisan distraction.
Republican committee leaders will now decide whether to compel testimony from administration officials or allow the deal to proceed without further scrutiny.
