Here are your answers compared to this voter’s answers.
Social › Abortion
DS>DS Personal answerI am pro-choice but I don't support abortion past the age of viability or as a form of birth control. I will always lean toward the life option when available, but I recognize often the long-term health of parent or child doesn't allow for this. I also disagree with so heavily legislating such emotionally, physically, mentally, and financially charged decisions. Instead of removing funds from organizations like Planned Parenthood, we need to support more K-12 sex education, and more general awareness surrounding sex, pregnancy, birth, and parenthood. Also, if we took away the double standard in the workplace for women by requiring parental leave for both genders for at least 3 months, providing more societal support for single parents, decreasing the red tape around adoption and foster care, and removing the stigma around birth control more parents would be less inclined to have an abortion. We need to not just worry about the loss of life with abortions but the quality of life surrounding the abortion debate. |
Domestic Policy › Gun Control
DS>DS Personal answerYes, require strict background checks, psychological testing, and training |
Social › Gender Identity
DS>DS Personal answerYes, and the government should do more to protect minorities from discrimination |
Social › Religious Freedom Act
DS>DS Personal answerWe shouldn't force people to do things that are against their beliefs, even though we should support them questioning and thinking more critically about their beliefs, but businesses should take great care to not disrespect or dehumanize any customers. |
Social › Transgender Athletes
DS>DS Personal answerBecause we have the technology the competing athletes should be organized based on testosterone levels instead of gender. |
Social › Planned Parenthood Funding
DS>DS Personal answerYes, their services reach far beyond abortions and can save many lives through cancer screening, prenatal services, and adoption referrals |
the Economy › Minimum Wage
DS>DS Personal answerNo, because the need nationwide isn't the same and has the greatest possibility to marginalize the most groups. Instead, states should be required to re-evaluate their statewide minimum wage periodically. |
Domestic Policy › Armed Teachers
DS>DS Personal answerYes, schools should require at least one teacher or security guard to be armed |
the Environment › Climate Change
DS>DS Personal answerYes, and provide more incentives for alternative energy production |
the Economy › Taxes
DS>DS Personal answerInstead of raising taxes on a specific earning group, we need to remove most, if not all, tax benefits so everyone pays a flat percentage of their earnings. This would make it so that naturally those who make more pay more, take away a lot of the fear and hassle of filing for taxes, and won't let those who can afford an accountant to earn more from the tax loopholes. |
Education › Critical Race Theory in K-12 Education
DS>DS Personal answerJust like our current system downplays the effects the African Americans and minorities feel in America, Critical Race Theory villanizes crucial people in our nation's history which young children naturally take too far. They have a hard time seeing that people are complex and aren't all good or all bad. We do need to still acknowledge the natural racism in our society before we can continue to heal and move forward, but that could be done better by teaching students to question their first instincts and think critically about why they think, feel, and act the way that they do. |
Immigration › Immigration
DS>DS Personal answerThey should have every opportunity to be granted citizenship as children born to legal parents. This would be punishing the children for the actions of their parents, and that has never helped the children. The US is the one educating and is the community raising these children so instead of building up their animosity against our country, why not use their unique, undermined perspective to better our country? |
Education › Student Loans
DS>DS Personal answerNo, my opinion from increasing taxes on the rich in general still applies. |
Social › Government Mandates
DS>DS Personal answerAgain, if we want to increase mother mortality, decrease abortions, and lower the risk for unplanned pregnancies the only logical thing to do is have readily available free birth control. |
Immigration › Illegal Immigrant Detainment
DS>DS Personal answerNo, too many non-violent immigrants are being deported |
Healthcare › Medicaid
DS>DS Personal answerHealthcare is a human right so it needs to be affordable for all. I support this by creating a public health care system, much like the NHS, to make sure that everyone can access and afford their health care. |
Science › Mandatory Vaccinations
DS>DS Personal answerRegardless, this should be decided at the state level |
the Environment › Alternative Energy
DS>DS Personal answerThe industry with the most sustainable energy sources should be benefitted for doing the responsible thing for our planet. |
Immigration › Sanctuary Cities
DS>DS Personal answerNo |
Immigration › Immigration Healthcare
DS>DS Personal answerYes, healthcare is a universal human right and your immigration or citizenship status shouldn't affect our ability to offer any healthcare. As a country with some of the most advanced medicine, we are duty-bound to help those who can't afford it. |
the Environment › Alaska Wildlife Refuge
DS>DS Personal answerNo, and increase alternative energy subsidies to eliminate our dependence on fossil fuels |
Elections › Voter Fraud
DS>DS Personal answerYes, to avoid voter fraud, but a specifically issued photo voter id needs to be issued as soon as the voter is registered. |
Immigration › Border Wall
DS>DS Personal answerNo, this is too costly and sends the wrong message to Americans and potential immigrants alike. Instead of stopping all illegal people and substances from entering our country, it would discourage potential legal immigrants and only contribute to the "closed-border" mindset that many Americans have. We are a country uniquely built of immigrants and we would be disrespecting history for ignoring what it has already taught us, first that some of our most motivated, and contributors to our economy and society are immigrants and two that walls only serve to physically represent the ignorance and fear put up by the sponsoring country. |
Domestic Policy › Gun Liability
DS>DS Personal answerNo, manufacturers and dealers should only be held liable for negligence |
Crime › Defunding the Police
DS>DS Personal answerCompletely removing the police is a public safety hazard just as much as over-policing is. More funding should be put not only into social and community-based programs but also improving and providing more extensive training for our police force. |
Elections › Right of Foreigners to Vote
DS>DS Personal answerYes, anyone who pays taxes should have the right to vote |
the Economy › Universal Basic Income
DS>DS Personal answerI support a system that would give everyone just enough to give back to their local businesses and use for necessities, but it shouldn't be enough to survive on. It needs to be just enough to benefit both parties in a purchase, without discouraging people from entering or remaining a part of the workforce. |
Healthcare › Vaccine Mandates for Customers
DS>DS Personal answerYes, they can ask but no one should be required to answer. |
Foreign Policy › Ukraine
DS>DS Personal answerYes |
Crime › Demilitarize the Police
DS>DS Personal answerNo, extreme situations should be handled by higher agencies with specialized training and equipment |
the Environment › Dakota Access Pipeline
DS>DS Personal answerI never support the risk that this pipeline poses to some sacred territory for our Native American tribes. Instead of putting their lands at even greater risk to achieve energy dependence we need to be the first to achieve dependence through sustainable sources. |
Immigration › In-State Tuition
DS>DS Personal answerYes, and they should also be eligible for financial assistance and scholarships |
the Environment › Oil Drilling
DS>DS Personal answerOffshore drilling should be banned because of how abrasive and destructive it is to all life. The accidents involved are always so expensive and deadly to human, plant, and animal wellbeing that it isn't worth it. Again, we need to support more alternative energy sources and incentivize the use of more sustainable resources. |
Healthcare › Obamacare
DS>DS Personal answerYes, I support a majority of the plan but not all aspects |
the Environment › Fracking
DS>DS Personal answerNo, we should pursue more sustainable energy resources instead |
Elections › Electoral College
DS>DS Personal answerNo, the electoral college ensures representation of the whole country instead of just major cities |
Foreign Policy › Military Spending
DS>DS Personal answerSpending shouldn't change but money shouldn't be spent more efficiently, specifically on less bulky, and costly military equipment, and every purchase and use of a weapon should be even more carefully evaluated than it already is. |
the Environment › Animal Testing
DS>DS Personal answerFor things that pose a potential great risk to humans, yes. However, things like cosmetics that might not be the most important don't need to be tested on animals. We need to do everything we can to reduce our dependence on animal testing. |
Science › Nuclear Energy
DS>DS Personal answerYes, temporarily while we increase investment into cleaner renewable alternatives |
Science › GMO Labels
DS>DS Personal answerYes, I trust the science of responsible food engineering but I don’t trust the motives of the food companies selling them |
Foreign Policy › Taliban Financial Aid
DS>DS Personal answerNo |
Housing › Homeless Encampments
DS>DS Personal answerInstead of refusing basic human needs, we need to look more into solutions about why they declined the shelter. If it is overcrowding we need to make sure we have more places for the homeless to go, and at the same time we need to be looking into what made them homeless, to begin with! |
Transportation › Public Transportation
DS>DS Personal answerYes, but only if the spending goes towards environmentally friendly solutions |
the Environment › Plastic Product Ban
DS>DS Personal answerI don't think that the products should be banned, they need to be phased out to eventually include more and more sustainable materials, also made using ethical/sustainable labor, and that consumers should also receive a benefit for proper disposal so that they feel an immediate kick-back because often it can be hard to see and be patient with the long term benefit. |
Crime › Criminal Voting Rights
DS>DS Personal answerYes, every citizen deserves the right to vote |
National Security › Military Congressional Approval
DS>DS Personal answerNo |
the Environment › Paris Climate Agreement
DS>DS Personal answerNo |
National Security › Foreign Assassination
DS>DS Personal answerNo, capture, interrogate, and imprison them instead |
Education › Open for Learning Recovery Benefit Program
DS>DS Personal answerYes |
